Thanks all,

I had Pam Kragen come out to the house on Thursday morning with her photographer, Charlie Neuman.
As a team, they loved looking and learning about handcuffs and Houdini. They were done with the interview about noon and we enjoyed each others company so much that I bet we could have done a few more hours of this.
They had another story to do and I had to catch a plane to Indy to see Elliot, Mark L., Damon, Ron, Fred, Gordon, John, Vince, Karl, and meet resident new guy, Richard.
(The cuff contingency all arrived safe and had a good time so far)

The story appeared by the time I arrived in Indy.

It was posted on my Facebook and here before I could get the chance to write about it.

Thanks for the kind words and I hope you got to know more about me and the collection.

I never had anybody think that I sounded like her before but I am happy with the Barry White voice.

I just got back to work this morning and learned about my poor office lady had to deal with quite a few phone calls from people who read the article and a few who brought their copy of the paper into the store to meet me. Some were normal, some not so normal.

One lady called to tell me that she has a pair of Dog the Bounty Hunter's cuffs when she worked with him in Mexico. My office gal told her that I was out of town, but the nut job was so fixated on telling her story that she went on and on about how she worked undercover and how she got possession of his handcuffs.

My girl (Sheri)tried to get her off the phone as she had no interest in hearing about this and had other calls to answer. Sheri is too polite to hang up on her so Sheri had to listen to this entire lengthy diatribe about Dog the Bounty Hunter and his stupid handcuffs.

Glad I was in Indy.

Sorry to have disappointed you.

I welcomed this article very much. Any press is a plus and though they were not huge, I landed 3 jobs because of the article.

Maybe I am following the foot steps of Howard Stern.
As he is a self proclaimed "King of all media", and having done TV and newspapers as well as movies and books, maybe I can be the "King of all handcuff media.

I don't view this as a step backwards...it is just one more opportunity to share the world of cuff collecting to those that are not familiar with the hobby.

A guy in town read the article and said he wanted to show me some cuffs he got from his father.

A very nice La Massonette with original key, Clejuso adjustable darby and these India darby's.

This was very well made and not the garbage you see on eBay every day. Then he pulled out this old paper tag and I recognized the name "Hicko" on in.
There was some discussion about Hicko in another blog.

His father knew Hicko and the son still has many magic tricks from Hicko that was handed down to him. I hope I will get to see these items too and handle them.

Having had a bad week at work, I was delighted when a "customer" came to the store an hour ago.

He said he had seen the news article and pulled these out of an envelope.
His uncle from NY had all kinds of stuff in basement and my visitor had them for a long time. He stated that it is finally time to let go of them and wanted these to go to a good home.
He saw my article and wondered if I was interested in having them.
At first I thought he was pulling out some Tibetan irons or something Pakistani. When I saw the ER, my jaw dropped. I was not expecting this at all.

The Tower is in great shape with 2 original keys.
This ER is in better shape than my current one and the "ER" stands out nicely on this one.

The key turns CCW to open. Does this make it a left hand thread? I was never very clear on this topic.

I paid him a nice sum and I am now having a better week.

Hi all,

First, my greeting to a great finding Mark. This set looks really great!
There is an inventory list of all knewn E.R. cuffs and leg irons. I started it in 2009 when I got my set and then Ron Spitz took over. Thanks Ron!

The latest list (as I know of), is dated May 7 2014, by Ron. There were 13 complete set of the handcuffs, two 1/2 cuffs and 7 leg irons.
The number 2 is the lowest numbered cuff but that's a single cuff. The number 8 is the lowes numbered complete set. On my list it says Joshua but it's obviously now
in your collection Chris. My congratulations!

According to the list, 8 of them are CCW (left hand thread), 6 are CW and 2 are unknown.

Mark, what is the stamped number on your cuffs and is there a matching number on the key?

Would you mind posting as close up photo of the stamping on the cuffs?

Thanks to all who posted their congratulatory messages.
I appreciate it very much.

I will take some close up pics. On this cursory posting, I believe it is number 168. I would like to know what is the highest number is currently.
I did not even realize that the keys were numbered.
(Note to some of the other collectors; I consider myself an advanced collector but I have still have so much to learn).

I have not handled very many ER's and my other one is very nice but pitted enough so the "ER" name or numbers are obliterated.
Both of mine or CCW or (Anti-clockwise for my down under friends). The sizes are identical.

I was hoping that I was going to have a CW and a CCW, but as this is not the case, I will be offering my old one for sale or trade.

Thanks to Lars and Ron for keeping track of these very rare cuffs.

I am glad that you are able to keep tabs on these and that another ER has surfaced.

Hi Mark,

The key is originally stamped on the top, see photo.

If your cuffs is "168", it's only 7 numbers from my set. The highest number known is 1201.

I don't want to publish the "owners list" in public due to respect for the intigrity to other collectors but I
can send it to you if you want me to.

Thanks, I would love the list of those in the ER Club.

Your ER is really nice, but that is to be expected.
Do you have a leg iron? I would really like to have one now.
Someone has a neck collar, I believe.
I saw what I think is a horse collar last year at the Indy show too.

Now, if you tell me that you have a cuff/leg iron combo, I will faint !

Thank you Lars for the ER list.

I see it needs some updating but very interesting in its current state.

My newest addition is actually #185.
The seems to have more wear on it than the cuffs and capturing a good picture of the number upon it was quite challenging. At first, I did not even realize that there was a number but I am glad that I have a match.
