Handcuff displays for public ideas...

Hi.

Next year Im having an Escapology display exibition in Scotland UK in May 2017. As it will have many people able to hopefully come issue of securing mine and others display itmes is important, Ive came up with an idea using an old shop display tower that handcuffs fit perfect. further more it has persex plasic locking doors to stop anyone taking them.im presently still working on it but included some photos of work in progress.

Ive aso got a few wooden tabe top cabinets made for other items, Anyone else had cuffs on display publicly and what did you use / advise?

As much as it pains me to say it, but I think we collectors tend to overpack our displays. For the not-so interested layperson, it looks like a box of tools. This would work for a shop, I guess.

Try individual frames, it'll really make a cuff stand out. I think I'll put 4-5 on display, and put the rest away. (If it rhymes, it can't be wrong either).

Very nice!
I like lots of color. Maybe you could get some different color paper stock and make cut outs that fit behind the cuffs.
It would add some pizazz and you could even print the makers name and date of each cuff. Position the text to appear inside the inner circle of the cuff or above/below the chain.

I entered a cuff display at the county fair years ago but it was a flat display case that they assigned to me.

When I came back to retrieve the cuffs, I noticed that there were shards of glass all over the 3 X 3 display surface. When I asked the attendant if someone smashed the glass to steal some cuffs, she relayed that my display attracted so much attention that one big guy was leaning over it with his elbows on the glass reading all of the descriptions.
Then all of the sudden, POW!, his elbows went thru the glass.
They just didn't clean it up well enough when they replaced the glass.
He did not get cut or leave any blood on my Mattatucks.
