I also got an email a few days ago supposedly from Joe. I get one about every 6 months. I just deleted it without opening it.

Is Joe Tanner OK?

We used to talk quite regularly but he became sort of a recluse, at least for me.
His wonderful wife, who I adore, dropped me from being a Facebook friend too.
They traveled to San Diego once or twice a year but I am not sure if they still come down anymore.

He used to call with some nice restraints but after learning that he sells them to others and queried about that, he replied that he wasn't sure if I still collect these things.

Please let me know if all is well in the Tanner family.

I could call myself but will await to see if anyone can keep me up to date first.
I hope they are ok and enjoying the retired life since the kids are all grown and on their own (and doing well)

A fellow collector saw Joe today selling his wares at a swap meet in Alameda.
He is doing well, so I am pleased.
I am comforted to know this information as I was a bit worried.

the concern is that Tanner's computer has a virus which sends out unwanted emails from his email address book so everyone should be getting them if they have emailed Tanner. no more no less.

The email "spoofing" is what's happened to Joe's email. Joe probably got an email from his own mail account from "hijacked" information. Hopefully it hasn't replicated throughout his computer, altering and corrupting his data until he reimages his system, or gets it replaced.

Don't open his emails especially if they have attachements..Darn it Joe, haven't you learned from those porn sites?? Just kidding!!

Unfortunately the field "From" in any E-mail may be filled by any existing address (so called address spoofing). There are a lot of spam and trojan sending program which fill this field from address book of victim. So the spam source may be in any computer where Joe's E-mail can be found.

it doesn't mater how when or where, GET VIRUS PROTECT on your computer (thats everyone who has a computer)
other wise its just like spreading STD's, take personal responsibility.
