S&W model 94 long chain

I am looking for a pair of S&W model 94 long chain.

Interesting. I have not seen a long chain S&W. I have a longer than usual chain version of Peerless that I am happy with. I'd be interested in seeing a longer chain S&W. I just this second order my first S&W pair of handcuffs. Model 100 weather shield Heard good things about S&W but taken long time for me to find a suitable vendor on the old interwebs that I am satisfied buying from.

I'm not aware of commercially-available long-chain S&W #94s having been made.

I do have a Belly-Chain with attached #94 cuffs. Of course, if one were to cut cut off portions of the Belly-Chain..it would be transformed into an extra long chain #94 handcuff.

I think your best bet is to contact the S&W factory and ask if they'll create a "long-chain #94 handcuff" for you, provided of course, that you provide a pair of their #94s.

I was thinking exactly what you said, but in the only picture I can find of the 94 LC the hinges are of the V3 and the lock tubes are that of V1. Its an odd set up, that I cannot replicate due to the V3 hinge and the lock tube on the opposite side. The LC is a mix of the 2 different versions...per the picture.

RE: The so-called "Long-Chain #94 handcuff" photo....I assume that the photo that you are referring to -- is from THIS Forum's website.

Look carefully, and you'll see that the two separate "cuffs" are stamped identical (i.e. they BOTH have the "Circular S&W Trademark" stamping on each "cuff")....indicating to me that this "Long-Chain" model was a non-factory/home-made creation....probably made from piecing together two different pairs of #94 handcuffs.

One "cuff" should be stamped with the Circular Trade Mark, and the 2nd "cuff" should be stamped with the 4 lines of "text/words"...if it came from the factory.

Of course, in a prison workshop, any kind of restraint incorporating any length of chain can be created, utilizing whatever materials or parts of handcuffs that are found available...but long-chain 94s were never offered commercially by S&W dealers.

I THINK the photos from THIS website are from Joe Lauher's own collection....so, HE would be the best source to ask about the authenticity of this "Long-Chain" S&W 94 model.

Joe Fox is correct. The long chain model 94 in my collection is likely not a factory item. It was likely put together from two separate normal cuffs. Here is the picture. By the time they were making cuffs of this styles they were making separate left and right hand cuffs. You can see from the picture that the two cuffs are identical.

That is in fact the picture I have seen. I have 13 pair of 94s and that picture/ pair of 94s you have has driven me crazy looking and searching. Also, I have another post about 94 versions, can you look over that and comment.

Many moons ago when I was making the Titan handcuff and my other original restraint designs Joe Tanner sent me a box of individual 94 halves and wanted long chains put between them.

So, we welded some up like this for Tanner.

If memory serves, at least 6 sets were done like this.

Here are some examples of S&W factory manufactured M-94 long chains that were not commercially sold. According to a factory letter I received, it states that these are part of a special group built at Smith & Wesson for our salesman and staff that traveled with firearms in a caring case. They were built to fit around travel cases securing the case from easy break-in at airports and shooting ranges. The sets were built in various lengths and also designed with multiple rings on the chain so several sets could be attached for extra wide cases. There were less then 100 of these manufactured.
I have been able to acquire 5 of these examples.

David, great to see and hear from you again! Great pics of these rare pieces from S&W! I see by your pics that these are all made with the Generation 3 cuffs. Were there any of these made with a Gen 1 or a Gen 2 handcuff, that you know of? Just curious. I know im likely not going to find one of these for sale on the open market. LOL! If you ever happen to want to part with one of your sets....I know a guy who would be a buyer. ;-)

All 5 of these are Version 1 & 2, the Version 3 had the smooth / flush pivot hinge pin.
After seeing the prices that the M-94’s have been bringing on eBay lately, I’ve been tempted to test out the market on one of these, but I have a very hard time parting with any of my collection.

My apologies David. I did know about the flush hinge pin and the raised hinge pins. I read about them in your books! LOL! I responded to this late at night, just before going to bed. I screwed that up! LOL! I should have waited and responded this morning with a fresh set of eyes and a clear mind! All of these use the most common “N” key.
The set on the bottom, the shortest chain & the one with only 5 adjustable rings (in the photo of the cuff only, the one on the left), is the only one where the jaw does not have the letter A stamped by the pivot pin. It is also the only one stamped with a serial number on the rear side.
