Slight change in Forum

The software that runs this forum is way out of date and indeed does not work as well as it did a couple of years ago. I would move it to some better provider, but I do not want to loose all of our past history. Searching the forum is often the best source of information about any given handcuff topic.

The change now adds the log-in name to each user if they have one. A blank user name will no longer be accepted. I can not require log-ins because that is not a forum software option. It was in the past, but it also did not work very well so I didn't use it.

Let us all hope that these small changes help a bit.

Thanks. I am testing to see what happens if I leave the name blank. Oh yes! Finally takes some pain away. I just did a preview and it shows my login name and won't go any further without a name. So while it's still annoying having to type a name, at least you could type randomness and still people can know who it really is due to the login showing up. Takes a little bit of the annoyance out of it.

Of course, one big down side to this change is privacy. If someone has an account here but they want to share an embarrassing piece of information or something and they type a whole story about something and leave itas anonymous or pick a random name for that post, now all posts including old ones will out them to everyone lol.

You can always log-out and then post. You will have to give name, but there is no fact checker.

True, that will work for new messages but I was referring to old ones. People may have felt safe and anonymous while sharing something but now all their old skeletons will be aired for all to see. Either way, I think this change is a welcome one and about the best you can do given the forum software.

I dont understand why people want to stay anonymous anyway. 1 its just a name. It means nothing to me i dont look and say oh look its dave and i know where he lives or what he looks like its still just a name. Also i am part of many other forums car ones aquarium ones and so on and everyone has a log in name. No one posts crap and no one bullys crys gets offended because they all have a mutual liking. This i do not understand not saying how it sould be run but if everyone was logged in amd had post counter and so on new people would know who was serious and so on.

Have an account i just dont log in because its a pain to have to put in email all the time. I have been on this forum about 7 years and have always used the same name. My point was about being like a forum that you just have to put a password in because it remembers your email or one that you can stay logged into like an appeould have. I have never posted anon amd never will because i have no reason to.

Well as you are tired apparently logging in, mine stays logged in. My issue is that I cannot just see a post, reply and job done. It shows as Anonymous. Now, I see a post, reply and meet an error page which is somewhat infuriating. So then I can either type my name or I can type gobbeldygook and let people see my login name to see who I really am. So if I am Mr Sweeny one post and jamesspader the next, each one will say under it "Login: mtht" or what ever so you know who I actually am.

So it's less about people wanting to be anonymous, it's more about frustration of having to type something each time.

Always logged ? Try to clear your browser (options/clear cache, /clear cookies or /password management ?). Or use CCleaner, a powerful software for computer cleaning.

Tremex, why would I want to do that? That would mean I have to login each time to every site that I go to. Talk about annoying, christ...
