Two Tone Handcuffs

Hi Everyone
I'm new to the forum and wondered if anyone might have a suggestion as to why these Hiatt Handcuffs have been manufactured with a different finish to each cuff ? One half is blued steel and the other is chrome.
I recently acquired a collection of Hiatt handcuffs and this pair were included.

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum! Hiatt did produce these two tone handcuffs in the late 1990's and were supplied to HM customs at both Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. I know that Pete McCahon obtained a pair from a customs officer in London and was told the idea was that if they had to hand over an arrested person to the Police the handcuffs were easily identifiable as property of HM customs and would be returned. It would appear to be a good idea but it did not seem to catch on so the cuffs you have are rarer than the normal cuffs.

That is an odd pair to be two toned. I want to say the finish might be worn off the one cuff

I have a couple pair like this as well. One thing you may have not noticed is the black cuff is an oversized cuff what the nickel is a standard size 2010. Your pair is the only other I have seen like this.

I've checked the size and it's the black one's that are actually slightly smaller in size. Not much but definitely slightly smaller.

On my pair the black is a model 2005 and the nickel is a 2010 model cuff.
