Rankin 1861

I have a set of handcuffs with key stamped "A. Rankin Phila" and "Patent Dec. 10 1861."

Brief research indicates this refers to the Delestatius patent 33917. Info from another site calls these "Delestatius (1st Rankin Handcuff)."

These have the plain slightly oval wrist openings, without the thumb notch. Unable to post photo currently, but hope to soon.

Can anyone shed light about the years these were produced, whether they are relative common or scarce, and their desirability as a collectable?

Hang on to them. harder to find as it's the first of Rankin's snap closed model. Do you have a key?
