I agree. They do have rather a unique look to them. Although I imagine they would not be adjustable though, unless I am wrong? Cool design though.

The length of the chain can be adjusted under the three threads.

I would date them late 1800s, early 1900s. Probably around 1870 or so.

Just because the manufacturers used a chain also used in bicycles, that doesn't mean it's a bike.

It's a feature unique on some French and German cuffs, like some Horst Moabit, if I'm not mistaken.
It could have been covered in tubing or something, but with these, I doubt it.

This cuff is 100% legit and authentic.

Nils' cuff is 100% authentical. This is my personal selection of the French Bicycle Chain Handcuff.
They are all a little different in size and shape.

These cuffs are pretty rare and not often seen for sale.

Lars, I am glad to see this key with your French Transport Leg Irons.

I picked up a pair last year with the same key and wondered if it was an original or someone skilled had made it.
I am now thinking it is an original.
