Disposal of handcuffs

So I have 2 pairs of modern handcuffs that I no longer need and thinking of throwing them away. I purchased them both from military surplus stores. One pair is Schrade and one is some other generic brand, no serial numbers (which is weird to me). Are there any special rules on throwing handcuffs away aside from the common decency of double-locking them?

I'd chuck them away or leave them to a responsible child who would love having some "real" cuffs to play with. Back when I was younger I tried to get the next step up of cuffs for cops and robbers. The ones I had, had holes in the arms where little pins went into, the typical cheapo toy variety of cuff. I went to blackpool many years ago and in the window of a shop was some "designed for official use" an off brand in a green and white boxed handcuffs but had toothed ratchets, I'm sure some of you know the ones. They would not sell them to me. They said they are for police, which I didn't believe. I guess he didn't want to sell them to kids. I would have loved it if someone had given me some "real" handcuffs. I was always the kid who had always metal handcuffs and the ones that had no crappy safety release. For what they were, they were the best I could get my hands on haha.

I threw out my cheapo Viper Professional but now I wished that I had them still so I could test my modified handcuff keys to see if they fit the more shallow keyway to know how universal they are.

Don't throw away your old jam jars.(handcuffs) Send them to Mrs Betty Dago, 18a Leytonstone High St and she will throw them away for you!!

Drop them off at your local police station. They'll recycle them in time, along with their old worn out duty cuffs. Unless of course, one of them decides that those cuffs are worthy of a place in their collection ........

Send them to Holland. It's customary to throw away handcuffs there.
