Hi just wondering the Pinkerton leg iron I can see a rivet in the back of the lock case doesn't this usually meen that it has been previously repaired or taken apart for some reason thanks.

Hello Hi,

That's certainly not the case a lot of the time. Often the plating can get thin over time exposing the location of the rivets, or in most cases they just weren't manufactured with that high of QC/QA standards. In this case what you're seeing is the back end of the key post as opposed to a rivet. I never want to claim 100% on any antique as it predates me by several decades but I'm very confident this particular leg iron has never seen any repair or been opened for repairs at any point. Appreciate the question and let me know if extra photos are needed.

In regards to the first comment on the post, this dingle did ask the wife to post these items for sale but your statement certainly is a valid point. Nils check the couches for spare change that usually where I start happy.gif

As Sarah stated please feel free to make any offer as on most items I'm reasonably flexible on price. PayPal or wire transfer would be the preferred payment method for ease and convenience but all logical payment methods welcome.

The Pinkerton leg iron don't appear to have been worked on. There is nothing in the photo to suggest that.
