There is currently a pair of the French Rivolier shackles on eBay, from the erestraints auction. I think it looks really nice, but isn't highest priority in my collection plans at the moment.
Harry_Tasker, I wondered about the KUB version of the French Rivolier shackle you mentioned. I have a lot of KUB items in my collection, but I have yet to come across a KUB version of this shackle, unless you are referring to these, which is the closest I've seen of the high-quality Pakistani line.
They are certainly reminiscent of the French Rivolier. The lock case is similar, even though the locking mechanism is different.
I am a novice collector by all means, but I will still share my impressions and thoughts. The main differences being that the KUB has a Hamburg lock with push style key, (not very secure, I can open it with a multitool,) and the Rivolier shackles having a shackle connection to the chain! There are other significant differences such as the Rivoliers seem to have a more square shape and are of a different metal.
If there is a Rivolier version produced by KUB I would be interested in one! Does anyone have a KUB version of the Rivolier in their collection?
KUBÂ Hamburg leg irons, snap shut, with push key. I've found that some of the later KUB cuffs have this smaller gauge chain, as compared to the larger links of some earlier items which were numbered. The chain is a little longer than needed, and it would be nice if the swivel had an O ring on each end to join it to the chain. They look great and are of nickle plated brass. There was a stainless steel version, slightly smaller, that I have been hoping to find, but it has been sold out for about a year.
