John Bushey Video

Here is a great video of John Bushey talking about some of his collection and adventures.  It was sent to me by Terry Roses who had the video made in 2015.  I received permission to have it posted here (thanks Joe) for all to see and remember what a great friend he was.

Wow! That was amazing! I had to watch it twice.The first time through, my eyes never left John. I miss that guy, deeply. hearing his voice and his stories, brought back so many memories. I am very grateful to you for sharing this video with us. The second time through, i was canning the background, looking at his amazing collection! So many rare treasures on display! I was just thinking about John, yesterday. I found this pic in a collection of images i have saved through the years. There will never be another like, John. Rest easy and keep an eye on us, down here, buddy. Until I see you, again. We miss you!

Thank you for sharing this great video; I found it entertaining and informative. Amazing to see such a comprehensive collection, and displayed so nicely too. I know that my collection won't ever reach that impressive level, but I was proud to realize that I could at least identify the majority of the different cuffs shown on display.

That was a great video, and at least allowed me to enjoy the wealth of knowledge John had beyond the few responses and emails we exchanged about our passion of collecting.  He was truly a gift to our collecting arena, and definitely made his mark.  Thank you John, you are surely missed!!

Thank you for the kind words posted about my brother John. Our family is still grieving his loss, and it is very healing to read such amazing comments about him across various social media sites. He was a friend to so many within his local community of Duluth, MN and just as many outside the area.

I just happened to see your video of John. Every collector of restraints should Thank You for sharing this video! You have opened the eyes of all who did not know this kind ,shareing,knowledgeable,humble man . I was honored when he visited my home, he was a true Gentleman,We all miss him! THANK  you.George

All the miniature handcuffs in the photo above are the property of Ian McColl and were lend to John to set up a display so he had something new to show at the Indy lock show. There are  many restraints and handcuff keys (all not paid for) have never been returned. All were part of old stock kept by John to sell and keep some profit to offset his rising health care cost. 

Dear Mr McColl, I am sorry that this happened. The man that you basically call a thief ,had given 


freely his knowledge of handcuffs to all collectors. I think I can appreciate your disappointment on what happened! I have never had the pleasure of meeting you, but have been told that you are the master of your craft .I am 87 years old,and during that time I have had things that have really upset me, but in the long run they really didn’t matter. Please think of all the good things ,that have happened in your life , and let the bad things slowly vanish. If I have up set you pleases forgive me.

Mr. McColl, Do not think that I was condoning your basic comments about John. Who is to say that he had no intention of keeping the things that you mentioned in your comments. After your relationship with him I can not believe that you think John would purposely not be a man of his word. If however you say that you gave him this material to help him with his medical bills you are to be applauded.I am aware that many of his friends helped him in many ways! I hope that this was the case with you .

I personally watched John make a number of these miniature cuffs.  John share stories of how he would make two pair and send one to the person who makes the above FALSE claim.   

This person would then reciprocate and send a pair to John.  It was an on-going exchange made over a number of years,  So I really question the validity of the above claim in regard to the miniature cuffs.

 As for keys I do know John was selling them for this person.
