"upgrading" a Bodycuff

Hiya,
hope it's not too much of a scrilege when I am saying that I am planning to "upgrade" a Bodycuff.
And not too off topic.

Never liked the way the straps were connected with O-Rings to the handcuffs.

Should have a D-Ring there (never Versions do).
And while I am doing that I am planning to change it so that different cuffs can be mounted. That should also include cuffs from Humane Restraint, Posey and Segufix.
Haven't made a decision yet on how to do that.

Think something similiar than this bicycle chain lock could be used.

Imagine that with Pins that are like 1" long. One pin going through the loop on the fabric belt. One pin going through the swivel of the handcuff.
Not sure how to make the connection to Humane Restraint cuffs and alike though.

Any ideas ?

I have always thought that the Bodycuff was a nice idea, that sort of missed the mark. An upgrade would be a nice idea.

Could you not just make up some other cuffs with a strap attached and pull out the ones on it and thread in the newer ones? Looks like 1" nylon webbing. Shouldnt be to hard to buy a roll of that and just make up sever different cuff sets to swap out.

Thought about that too.
But the straps have a loop at each end that does not allow them to be pulled through the locks.
I'd need to cut one of the loops to remove the strap out of the lock.
Plus every replacement strap would need to be inserted and then have a loop sewn out of the back end of the strap.
Don't like that...too much cutting and sewing...

Think I may have a good solution.
Had planned before to put a "metal bar" like 45x5x5 mm / 1.8x0.2x0.2 " into the loop on the connecting belt and use that as a starting point.
Have been giving that some thoughts but realized it wil not work as the loop is too small and I do not want to change that.
Planning to use a round bar like Ø5mm now.
Laser cut Hardware to connect that to the handcuffs is ordered...
