Hi folks, I recently obtained a pair of Bean Prison Handcuffs. They are in great overall condition with most of the original plating intact. The only problem is that one of the arming springs is either missing or broken, therefore when in the locked position, it is relatively easy to just pull the cuff open. Can anyone recommend a locksmith to look at these ? Thanks !
your description of the problem doesn't make sense. If the hold back lever isn't working, then the cuff should NOT just pull open. I am guessing the spring for the pawls is what is broken.
Yes, I believe that the spring is broken.
I do understand you think the spring is broken, (and I am not denying there isn't a broken spring) but which one, the spring on the pawls, or the spring on the hold back lever?
The arming button on one of the cuffs has no resistance at all. it just floats back and forth. I will try to post a photo later. Thanks for your help.
Photos won't help. If the cuff pulls open then the pawls are not locking. The ability to lock has nothing to do with the button. The man to see about gettting them fixed is Bob Dix.
