#2I have the early Peerless handcuff Book from Amazon Kindle. To be able to clarify which cuffs they are, i need a clear front and back picture. Im looking for what stamping is on the left cuff and what stamping is on the right cuff. The pictures you show, im going to guess a Model 3. But, i dont know which version it is, yet. Need to see more.

#4The book doesnt give an ending from when Peerless went from the Model 3 into the cuffs Marked as Model 300? Which is basically the exact same cuff, just a different Model number on them. They said the Model 3 was introduced in 1931. From 1931 until the early 1940s, Smith and Wesson was actually making the cuffs for Peerless. When S&W and Peerless parted ways, Peerless started to make their own sometime in the early 1940s, it seems. I wonder if the Model number change was to differentiate which cuffs were made by Smith and Wesson and which were Peerless's own factory made cuffs? The book cuts off at that point and never actually says anything about the Model 300 marked cuffs.
As far as value, in The United States, they are not rare. It depends a lot on condition. In other countries, they hold more a value. I dont know what the going price is for these, were you are, but here they sell on ebay, in the United States, anywhere from $20 on up. I have sold several pairs. Not too uncommon to find them with original keys, boxes, papers, etc. Of course, value depends greatly on location as well as condition of the cuff.

#5Interesting side note: If you go to Peerless's website, you can contact them and give them the serial number and a picture of your cuffs. They can tell you the date it was made and sometimes, who it was sold to.

From what I can see from the poor photos, it is a Model 3 Version 4 or a Model 3 Version 5.
The difference between the Version 4 & Version 5 is, that the serial number on the left front body has a # sign before the number on Version 5. The front left cuff is not shown in your posted photos.
The Model 3 Version 6 was stamped with the Model 300, also this is the first handcuff where "THE" was dropped and it just had PEERLESS HANDCUFF CO. This did not happen until March 1995, even though, in a letter dated July 15, 1931 to Smith & Wesson from James Milton Gill requesting that the word "THE" in each case preceding the words "PEERLESS HANDCUFF COMPANY" should be omitted, as the word "THE" is not part of our corporate name.
MMD, when you receive your cuffs, post clear pictures of each side of the right & left cuff, and we might be able to make a closer identification.

MMD, What you have is a Peerless Model 3 Version 4
The Model 3 Version 3 was introduced after Peerless moved from 91 Dwight St to 95 State St.
After the Model 3 Version 3 was in production they introduced the Model 4. When they discontinued the Model 4, they resumed with the Model 3 series and introduced the Model 3 Version 4 which you have. The Model 3 continued through Version 8.
The Stampings on the Model 3 Version 4 are:
Left cuff front is the serial number marked on the body between the keyway & swivel. That's the only marking on the left cuff.
The Right front cuff Cheek is marked:
THE PEERLESS HANDCUFF CO.
SPRINGFIELD, MA.
The Right rear Cheek is marked:
PATENT
1531451 - 1872857
MADE IN U.S.A.
The instruction sheet is expanded to a to a 4-fold, 10 page pamphlet which shows a serial number 803327.
Hope this helps,
Dave
Please excuse the old saved photo.

#11And for your help, very appreciated.
But on the handcuff I have its now write MA but MASS.... Does it is the same? And what is the year on the one I have?

On the left cuff with the serial number on the keyway side, are there any stampings on the opposite side? you did not supply a photo of that side.

#15I agree with Dave. Model 3, ver 4. But, there is one issue. Its the use of the abbreviation, "Mass." On version 4, they did change "Mass" to "Ma." All of the other markings your cuffs show, point to the version 4 tho. Dave, is it possible this is still a version 4, but a very, very early ver 4, before they changed the abbreviation? If so, this is kind of a rare cuff, in my eyes. I have never seen a version 4 with "Mass" stamped on it? Having the other cuff blank, except for the serial number, was a characteristic of the version 4. This one stumps me a bit. Thoughts?

MMD, of the few M-3 V-4's I have, all have Massachusetts stamped MA. not MASS. I don't have an explanation why yours are marked with MASS. except someone grabbed the wrong stamp when marking them.
Richard, the serial number on MMD's pair is 1007414, higher than any I have, so it can't be before the change to MA.
I have (3) M-3 V-4:
372060 shipped Dec. 5, 1965
429197 shipped Aug. 2. 1968
871419 shipped Nov. 27, 1990
By the way, the Peerless Lead Chains with a 5' chain, used the M-3 V-4 left hand cuff.
There were 450 made beginning with serial number 10000. The boxes are marked: One Each Peerless Belly Chain Serial # xxxxx Model #1
I have serial number 10011 shipped Apr. 19, 1984 & serial number 10427 that has no record of being shipped per Chris Gill.
MMD, I would hang on to those mis-marked M-3 V-4 cuffs, unless you want to ship them to me LOL.

#17I have been searching for that lead chain, for quite a while now! Very nice! Thank you for the information on the Peerless cuffs. Peerless and Hiatt have always been the hardest companies to track their model numbers. The mis-marked, model 3 ver 4. is intriguing.

#18How much they are Worth? This missstamp make them worth more?
Envoyé de mon T900 en utilisant Tapatalk
MMD, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. I don't see much added value in the mis-print.
The pair I posted above, serial number 871419, in the original box with same serial number & instruction sheet, cost me $20.00,
9 years ago. Inflation value today would be $23.32. But like I said, it is worth what someone is willing to pay.
Sorry I'm not much help in this inquire.
