Are you sure you’re framing your question correctly? The 801C is a hinged carbon steel cuff in nickel finish.....the 802C is a hinged carbon steel cuff in black oxide finish. Spencer

#10Not an error. The Model 801 was the older series to the "800" line of handcuffs. It was later replaced by the Model 802c. I dont believe there is any difference in construction or sizing. Same cuff, different model #. As to why Peerless decided they didnt want to make the Model 801, I have no idea? I compared the available specs for both, and they are the same. Unless the internal locking mechanism was changed when Peerless made the changes to the "700" series of cuffs? Going from the Model 700 to the Model 700b then to the current, Model 700c.

Thank for info but, everywhere on internet they say model 801 is nickel finish and the one i have is black...

#12The Model 801p was the "pentrate finish." Peerless's term for "black or the more commonly used, "blued." The Model 801p, was later replaced by the 802c. I dont have a Model 801p. So, i dont know how they marked them? They may or may not have included the "p" after the Model 801?
