Mystery Key ☜ Is it an original Peerless?

I was going thru some keys and just came across this one.
It seems too similar to be anything but a Peerless key.
I know that Peerless used a shorter key in their original products and went to a longer key (1/2 inch) in subsequent years.

I am not aware of a brass one being made and the bow looks a bit different then that of the regular production.

Anyone have a similar key or have knowledge about this?

I have some different style keys for peerless handcuffs, but not sure all are factory.
I'll have to go through my Peerless handcuffs & check the keys and post photos.

I would like to see a photo of all variations of your keys as would most if not all of the cuffs collectors out there.
I know that Gill products like Flash Action and Lion Tamer used a Peerless key.
This may be an example of a Gill key used in his products.
I should try this key in a pair of Peace Officer Equipment cuffs.

I took a quick look at my Peerless cuffs & keys. Most have the standard Peerless keys.
On the left row top to bottom:
1. A factory key before they trimmed the flag.
2. A factory key that was found in the S&W factory in a Peerless box of M-2, V-6, two left cuffs, sample for PAT.- PAT. PENDING stamp.
3. Not sure if factory.
4. Suspected home made.
5. A factory narrow flag
6. A factory blue wide flag
7. A factory nickel wide flag
Right side, long key, a after market key
Far right, definitely a home made key
I do not have a brass one like yours.

I don't have a brass one, but one of my 1st model Peerless cuffs came with a short key similar to yours.


I have about 12 other keys that I believe to be original Peerless keys, but this is the only short one in my collection.

My lion tamer came with a flat key. I believe it's an early version as most others I've seen are marked 'patented'.

The only cuffs that I have are the Japanese  Cuffs that are swing through.
Come to think of I do have some swing throughs that are not very old
I think I got them in the 1950’s.
