Ordered vintage Peerless cuffs online, any info...

Hi, Folks! I'm new here and this is my first post.
I was hoping to maybe get some input from the members here on what I may have with a set of Peerless handcuffs I ordered online. I imagine it has decades under it's belt, but the photos seem to show an almost mint specimen. Anyhow, I was thinking of sharing the photos here of it, (that I downloaded from the vendors sale of the item). I could, and will add more pics of it when I receive it, but was hoping to get some jumpstart input from you folks before it even arrives.

One thing I do not see in the photos, is a model designation. Maybe based on it's styling, markings shown, and it's serial number, some things can be determined about it?

That is what caught my eye on this set of Peerless.
I see vintage Peerless cuffs pretty oftenly up for sale, but being what they are/were intended for, they tend to show their use. With these, the cuffs and it's box stuck out as being so pristine, that my want for it won over. I figure it would be a nice companion for my other Peerless, (a 100th year Anniversary set).
I received an email back from the Peerless company today, and they placed my incoming set as being made in 1970, (based on the serial number and such).

Clear photos of the front & back of both cuffs & all markings will make it easier to identify.
From what I see in the photos you posted, you have a Peerless Model 3 Version 3.
From the serial number, I would guess they were shipped around 1968-1969 (just a guess comparing serial numbers I have)
You can get the date shipped and to whom they were shipped by filling out the form on the Peerless website.
Pleas post photos here on this thread when you receive them.

Hey Jimmy, welcome to the page! Tons of useful information and knowledgeable collectors on here. Peerless can be a tough nut to crack, when looking for model numbers and variations, before a certain era (before they started to stamp cuffs with model numbers). Dave, who posted above me, has done a lot of research on Peerless and Smith and Wesson, as well as the interaction, between the two companies. I highly recommend picking up his 2 handcuff reference books on a flash drive. This is the link, with information and pictures on it.  I find myself going this his flash drive books, weekly to find info on cuffs I am looking for/at. Received the cuffs, and all seems pretty legit, except for the two keys. Either one, or neither is correct, but they are different from each other.

The key with the thinner circle and the longer double lock activating pin, would be the key that should have come with the set.

The paper used to wrap the cuffs has a 1969 date, which coincides with the email I received from the Peerless company stating these handcuffs were made in 1970.

I am pleased with the overall condition of this package, it all being just months away from hitting the half century old mark.

I only own a couple other sets of cuffs within my very eclectic collection of "Needful Things". One is a set of Peerless 100th Anniversary cuffs, the other an English made Hiatt oversized handcuffs/legcuffs.
The Anniversary cuffs have a nice finish, and I imagine that they being a special collectable edition, that they may have went a bit more on the careful side of final fit & finishing. The Hiatts are nice, but don't visually compare to the Peerless Anniversary set. Now, as for this almost 50 year old Peerless set, the machining and finish were nicely done, almost what one would have expected from a special limited item as well, but this was obviously not that at all... It was obviously a standard working model handcuff. Old school quality always facinates me :)

Here is that set of 100 Anniversary Peerless cuffs I mentioned. I know they are likely somewhat common amongst collectors of handcuffs. But, with Peerless only making 1,000 total, they kept them from becoming a dime a dozen items.

jimmy, you have a nice pair of Model 3, Version 3 handcuffs.
Richard was correct on identifying the keys for you.
There were 8 versions of the Model 3 that makes for an interesting search.
You have a very nice display of the 100th Anniversary handcuffs.
I have number 391 of the 95th Anniversary (I don't remember how many were made).
I have numbers 125 & 126 of the 100th Anniversary.
Happy searching for the handcuffs you like to collect. It can be addictive.

I much appreciate the comments and information you guys have shared with me.

My collecting hobby consists of all sorts of do-dads , my "Needful Things" collection. Some is new'ish, some is vintage, some are antiques, but all are facinating to me, and they all someehow fit into my eclectic style. Almost everything I collect, I use as decor in my home. It almost makes for a live in museum, and no matter who comes over, there is always someting that will facinate the guest, because there really is something for everyone to relate to, or be intrigued about.
Part of the fun in my collecting these items, is my finding ways to display them.

I am glad to have found this forum, it has already been a big help to me on these cuffs, and the friendly attitude here is very much appreciated as well :)

The latest cuffs will have to wait until an idea pops up in my head on how I want to display them. There is one I want to be a center piece for them, but I will have to wait until I can get it at a decent price, and of a decent condition.... "Things" are basically all around me ;)

Well, since I should have my Argus Iron Claws arriving sometime tomorrow, I started putting in a few sets of restraints within this display, (with the Iron Claw going to be the center piece to this display case).
This display will house items from new'ish to about 60 - 70 years old.

*The Chicago thumbcuffs are were likely made within the past 5 years.

*The Winchester cuffs made about 15 years ago.

*The Hiatt cuffs made about 20 to 30 years ago.

*The Peerless made about 50 years ago.

*And when the Iron Claw arrives, it will rrepresent an item that was likely made 60 to 70 years ago.

Just hoping the thing fits within the space I have left in the display for it
