Towers Double Lock Leg Irons

Looking for best offer. Will ship in US only. Vintage patina, not sure of manufacture date, no markings visible. May have key, still looking for it

Whats with the large link in the center? Ive never seen one with that, before? An old field repair, maybe? Interesting.

Most center links for chain gangs were round. I have seen maybe two that were oval shaped? But, that could be a possibility or who ever bought the irons, made them into a chain gang cuff by adding their own center link? Could be a lot of possibilities. But the patina is consistent. So, i would say it was done a long time ago.

It's definitely interesting, no clue really. But figure they're unique. I may yet find the key. Any idea of value? All estimates so far vary widely.

If you search tower leg irons on Ebay and look under sold auctions, they do vary, depending on condition. They usually dont sell for a huge amount, unless there is something special about them. In general, they go from $125 to $200, usually. Most in the $150 range. Al;l depends on what someone is willing to pay at the time you are selling, tho.

Did you notice that the center link is not in the center? One side contains an extra link which leads me to believe that this modification was made after the irons left the factory, just my opinion.

I did notice. At first thought the odd link was for ganging cables but now thinking it was a repair. Don't know for sure.
