Unknown Chain Come Along

I was going through some of my come alongs and came across this one which I have had for several years.  The only markings are "PAT APL'D FOR.  I have never come across a patent for this shaped come along and have never seen one like it.  I think it could be early Bean because the T-handle and stampings are similar to other Bean come alongs.   

Has anyone have or seen one like this?

It is a very unique design. I have never seen one like this either. I don't think it is related to a Bean.  I have seen Tower nippers with a wide trough, but never with the extended curved metal extension.  Quite interesting.

I’ve never seen one like it but I think of domestic origin that never went into production.

I definitely feel that they are domestic.  Having the Pat Apl'd For, should mean that the Patent Office should have paperwork on them.  Sometime, when I'm not looking for more Lilly data, I'll do a search and maybe get lucky.

I have had this one for at least 30 years, but I have no idea who made it.

Nice and shiny, Joe.  At least we know there are two of them.  They should be either Tower or Bean's but if they were not patented they have never shown up in the patent listings.  

I have been going through the Patent Office data base without any luck.  There is a branch of the Pat Office near me so I'll give them a call tomorrow.
