Hoffman Body Cuff Restraint System

Sharing another recent find from a surplus dealer. This mint set of Hoffman Body Cuffs. It has the belt with the Peerless cuffs attached and the Leg restraint all in the carrying bag. Really an interesting system. They have a video on Youtube. I will post the link if I can find it. The belt has adjustable leads for the handcuffs. You can give the prisoner some slack to eat, sign papers, ect. If they start to act up or try to hit an officer, you can grab the tail of the strap attached to the cuffs and pull it. This draws the suspects hands closer to their body and takes away the slack you had given them. Once the strap's tail is pulled, the buckle re-locks the strap, wherever you stop pulling. So you could retract it 2" or 3" or pull it all of the way and the prisoner cannot pull the strap back out. It is now locked with hands to his waist. Very helpful tool for the transporting officers. The belt also has handles build in to keep a hold of someone being transported or to help lift them up into a van or truck for transport. The leg restraints work the same way as a hog tie. One side of the restraint, goes to the back of the belt, while the other end cinches around both ankles and is pulled tight. The strap that is left over, after fastening to the back of the belt, works a lot like the wrist cuffs do. Pull the tail of the strap and the strap will get shorter, pulling the ankles up into a hog tie. The buckles take regular handcuff keys and will re-lock, when you stop pulling the strap's tail. This severely limits whae range of motion for your prisoner or transport.

This is the website for the new, Hoffman styled restraint that is currently sold. The one i have is an older one, pre-2010. The only issue is, finding someone that will sell to you. Most of this specialized gear is only sold to accredited agencies, prisons, hospitals, etc. You have to contact each company and feel them out to see what they say. Almost every company, that makes this type of restraint, will tell you its not for sale to the public. If you tell them you are an escape artist and want to try one, they will almost always shut the door on you. They do not want their products being used in an escape show, showing that they can be defeated. They are trying to sell the newest design that is inescapable, or what ever terminology they used to boost its sales." I have more luck by saying i am a collector. That can sometimes grease the wheels and get some hard to get items. But, it doesnt always work like that. A weaker link in the chain is to find a distributor, online, for the product and try to place an order. Worst they will do is cancel the order and tell you no. I got super lucky and found this one through  surplus store, that doesnt care who they sell things to, they just want them sold. I remember when these came out, back around 2009. I have had them on my search list, since seeing them. Its only taken 11 years to find one. Hopefully, you find one that you can buy, long before I did. I know the style of the one i have is no longer made or sold. They have moved on to this new design, that addressed some issues that users of the original had found. At one time, i knew what the issues were, but i cannot recall, right now, what they may have been?
