Today we explore cuffs from the Countries of the Former USSR.

I do not have much to offer for this topic, but I will start off with a modern cuff from Russia.  I hope others can show more.

Russian Thumbcuffs.  They are large thumbcuffs with an unusual shape. Both sides open simultaneously by turning key once.

Russian Zinc Plated Hinged Handcuffs..  Russian zinc plated hinged handcuffs are relatively crude, but heavy duty. 
The double locks and single locks open by turning the key the same direction. 

Here are some Russian handcuffs. The first two came from the collection of Timo Toumivaara and the last from the collection of the late UK escape artist David De-Val, which Mick Hanzlik had collaborations with.

For Russian cuffs,  have this one that has been running on Ebay. Its one of my Laska Hinged Cuffs. It uses a key, smaller, but similar to the Hiatt 1960 keys. Its also relatively thin, compared to other Russian made cuffs. The key ring has a small pin that is used to set the double locks.

Let’s start off with a cuff from Lithuania. I do not know of any others. The key is not original and simply pulls the latch back.

Three Russian Handcuffs, they all work on a similar principle of a screw key. None of them double lock.

Russian Handcuffs with a small triangular key. Again they do not double lock and there is plenty of room for a 2mm shim!

Lots of this design were made available through European dealers, not sure if Chris at Handcuff Warehouse stocked them? They were made in at least 4 models, I like this set because it has the Russian box.

Here is a collection of 4 Russian made Thumbcuffs purchased from Ebay.  And dont worry, the keys were replaced with ones in better condition. LOL! These 4 came from Ebay and I was told they are of Russian, origin. The one with the leather case was supposed to have been made in a prison over there, somewhere. I have found no supporting information on any of the four. So, until I find out differently, these are filed under Russian cuffs in my collection. Wish I knew more about these.

4 more Russian cuffs. The double bitted cuffs can be double locked by turning the key.
The other two look similar, one is single locking the other double locking by pushing plunger in.

Russian handcuffs "Crab" (factory name BR1-KF, in the Cyrillic  БР1-КФ). On the left is a new modification widely used by the police at present. On the right is the previous version, practically withdrawn from use due to lock flaw.
