Cuff of the Day for May 24. Nipper Madness - The US Patent List

Nipper Madness Begins.   A series of days devoted to nippers, grips and come-alongs.   
24th Sunday - The US Patent List.  How many can we find?
25th Monday -  US Nippers - Not on the patent list, odd balls and copies.
26th Tuesday - British Nippers
27th Wednesday -  Nippers from Europe and the Rest of the World

Over the next few days I would like to explore nippers, grips and come-alongs.    We will start with the US Patent list as shown
below.  The table includes patents from the first one given to Phillips in 1869 through 1950 when the survey ended.   Most of this
list is "borrowed" from the list that our good friend Ron Spitz assembled for the Don Stewart book.

I would like for us to work together to determine which of these patents actually resulted in a manufactured nipper.  In some cases this is not a simple question.
Some nippers are based upon more than one patent.  Some nippers seem to be based upon a particular patent, but are not numbered.  Some are numbered with
a patent number that seem wrong for that particular nipper.  But let us do the best we can.

I left a blank column at the right of the table.  You can down load the table and use it to check off the cuffs in your own collection.
Today I would like for us to only post pictures of nippers on the patent list.  On Monday we will look at other US nippers, not on the list , odd balls, and copies.
When you post a picture try to identify the patent by the number in the table.

Eisaman & Rome Dec 11, 1888 and Eisaman Aug 21, 1906

The improved model of 1906 placed two springs instead of the original one spring to control the pressure of the clamp that goes around the wrist.  However, I believe that they just used the original cover dated 1888.  I have never seen one marked with the 1906 date.  So, most of the nippers we have is actually the 1906 patent.  You can check yours by applying pressure to the clamp to check the action or just take the cover plate off and look.

 The patent papers show 2 nippers. The first one is a bit strange.
  I wonder if it was ever made. The second model with 2 troughs was.

We have made it to the half-way point with 26 of the 52 patent restraints shown. Nice job, so far, everyone! Some great looking pieces and some very interesting designs!
