I plan to suspend my Cuff of the Day postings at the end of May.   We have gone through most topics and people are
getting busier.  But I encourage everyone else to start their own topics using a similar format.    I am somewhat out of ideas.

Today we explore the cuffs of Asia.  We have already visited Japan, but that still  leaves India, Pakistan and China, all major producers.

I will start with two cuffs from India.   Both are marked C.P.I AGRA and dated 1951.   Agra is the Indian city where the Taj Mahal is located.

The unique thing about these cuffs is the size markings.  The smaller one is marked 2 and the large 2 1/4.  The heights of the two cuffs are indeed 2 inches and 2 1/4 inches. Pretty simple.

I have two sets from Indian darby. The first one has a number of markings; Stamped "16" on the key and both cuffs. Also stamped "SW Din & son Aligarh"", "1944" and "No 2" for size. Also stamped with the broad arrow. These are obviously manufactured during the the time Britain ruled India,

Another, similar, Indian set. Only stamped "045" (also the broad arrow on the key) on the key and on one of the cuffs.

The cuffs in China I have always preferred are the various brass cuffs that were made in that region. So many different designs, that the actual maker is still, unknown. The first cuff is small in size. Its from Indonesia and is referred to a "Polari" handcuffs. -Richard Knip-

Quite a large area Asia, it includes The Phillipines. Photo shows the Manila Legirons, Handcuffs and Thumbcuffs. The handcuffs and Thumbcuffs were made in a plain polished finish or burred finish.

Back to China, two unusual items. The first is a cuff that uses a magnetic key. These were made in two models with a two or three link chain. The key has to be put in a certain way to turn and open them.
Second photo is I believe a unique Chinese PTC combination set. It is necessary to use both keys at the same time to unlock them. The handcuffs have 6 pins and the Legirons have 8 pins.

  I went thru a phase were I liked the brass handcuffs.

From Pakistan we have this handcuff marked Peshawar, a city in Pakistan.

Also from China. The most uncomfortable leg irons they have ever made! The Bri-Circle Weighted Leg Irons. I do not recommend trying these! LOL! The screwdriver is used to remove the plate the covers up the key hole. These use a strange "+" shaped key.

Here is an antique style handcuff from china, at least I'm told so. I have no clue how old they really are. And yes, they are very rusty. I attached some pictures of it, one with a chinese brass hinged style handcuff for comparison of the size.
