#1Has anyone ever seen a Marlin Bottleneck key like this? The cuffs appear legit but the key is highly unusual and has a "made in England" stamp. I'm thrown off here.

#2The key is not original to the cuff.
Someone with some degree of skill made a working key from a British luggage key or similar.
I could not tell from your photo if there is a couple of smaller nubs or appendages perpendicular to the 2 prongs and above them.
The nubs keep the key from rising out of the keyway when turned.
The cuffs are the 3rd model as they have the center barrel swivel.

#3I figured it seemed like a decent improvisation. The cuffs appear to be in reasonable condition and the seller is only asking a couple hundred dollars. He also insists that he's able to easily open the cuffs with the "key". Might be a worthwhile addition to my meager collection for that price.

#5Keys show up on eBay quite often.
There was a company called Taylor that sold a set of keys for some common cuffs but they are not a good choice. They are brittle and they do require some filing down to fit. There are some aftermarket keys that are stamped "Bi-Metallic". I have a few of them off eBay and I like them.
Original keys are less common but they are out there if you look long enough.
Ian made them in the past and probably still does. They worked well for me and not too expensive.
He will probably chime in here before long.

#7Mark is absolutely right your best bet is to contact Ian Imccoll@dcsi.net.au. he can probably provide you with a high quality key that will not break off inside the lock case which is disastrous.
