WOW! That jail lock is a serious piece of hardware! Very cool to see that up close! Ive never handled an older jail lock like that. The Walden is still a cuff i am chasing. I had an opportunity on Craigslist, one time. Foolish me, tried to lowball the guy. He said I "missed it by ten minutes." I dont know if i really did miss it by someone else buying it before me, or that was just his way of getting rid of me? Who knows? I hope to be luckier and get the next one i go after. I did learn not to lowball on an item that had a decent price for what it was! LOL! Lesson learned. Great video Arioch! Thank you for sharing!

Great Jail Lock...Im jealous!

The photo of you in the jail cell:  Notice the "staple" attached to the brick wall, which is literally "around the corner" from the jail door (hence, the lock & keyhole would be out of reach of the prisoner's grasp).

Attached is a description of a "long-arm" jail lock...made for locking around corners....like the jail cell you're in.
It was from The Charles Street Jail.

I purchased this lock, and it is on display at the Los Angeles Police Museum.

More interesting--is the reference to this type of "long-arm" jail lock....in Houdini: The Man Who Walked Through Walls"
(pp. 133-134).

.....oh, and of course a "long-arm", "around the corner" Jail Door Lock was similar to what was depicted in the jail escape scene - in the Houdini/Tony Curtis film.

A jail lock is one thing I have not added to the collection as of yet. I have looked at a few and just never pulled the trigger on one. I will at some point, im sure.

I also echo the sentiments of envy....I have yet to snag a heavy "dead bolt" design Jail Lock...Only been able to get a Scandinavian lock so far...Keep more videos coming, they're always great!!
