fyi--If you go to Damon Shield's website....You'll see a photo of a 1st model Bean-Cobb Handcuff---- that has NO "Indent"  around the button.  Very interesting.

1st Model Bean

The very first models had a semi circular scalloped groove running down the blade and corresponding lock which was designed to make it harder to insert tools or to make keys.
The locks in later models did not feature this scalloped design as making keys simply required the use of thinner material to circumvent this security feature.

Does anyone know where or how this Bean with no stampings on the lock case fits into the picture?

Looks to me that it is very close to the middle of the picture!  Sorry, I could not resist!

Spence, I have a Bean Cobb Leg Iron that appears to have unmarked lock assemblies as well. But, due to the wear on the rest of the leg iron, i am willing to say that mine were probably marked at one point and have been worn down with use. On yours, I cant say that for certain? I do know that the markings do tend to wear off, the more use the piece has seen and how the over all set of cuffs was treated in its lifetime. That very well could be the case with yours, or maybe you do have something out of the ordinary there? I just cant answer that question for sure. Sorry.

Richard as always your input is appreciated and warmly received and to say these irons are out of the ordinary would be an understatement. I kinda think that the latest models of Bean Cobbs in production had unmarked lock assemblies but that is just a guess on my part.

Another old Bean.
The lock case is thicker than the cuff body, so the lock is raised higher than the plane of the cuff.
