Rigid Hiatts

Hi all, new to handcuffs and I was passed these along with some others. I have been unable to find a single photo of Hiatts that look like these on tinternet. Does anyone have any idea and a dateish? Cheers, Charlie

Might it be a Hiatt "Quik-Kuf" rigid handcuff...with the outer plastic handle grip removed?

I have never seen a "Hinged Hiatt" handcuff sold "bare" like that - without a plastic grip.

All the other rigid Hiatts I can find have 4 holes like the one shown below next to this set which I presume means a grip could be added.
These have no way of attaching a grip and the width of this set is already the same as the usual plastic grips?

It looks like a factory conversion of a hinged cuff into a rigid cuff.

Like Paul said, it looks to me like a hinged cuff that was never fully cut out. Someone at the factory drilled the holes and riveted the layers together and made a rigid. These definitely are not a standard rigid cuff missing their plastic grip or a "skeleton" cuff, as some call it. As you can see, those are made from the bodies of the chained version of the cuffs, before they are cut out. To the best of my knowledge, the hinged uncut cuff, was never made into a rigid with a plastic grip. It would be quite a bit longer than a standard rigid cuff. Hiatt did of course, make the extended hinge version of of the standard hinged cuff. The Model 2060 is shown in the pic below. You can see where the cut lines are on these as well.

If you mean the 'teeth' where the hinge would, could of gone, these are fully cut out and the center top piece is separate from the two ends and the teeth mesh together.

You can see on this Model 2050, how the teeth are cut along the lines in the plate and the links are added to join the two cuffs back together. The middle section of the plate is generally thrown away. Though the cuff's body wouldnt be riveted together, until the cut was made and the links were in place and pinned. Then the cuff is riveted together and nickel plated or what ever finish is put on the cuff being made. 
Like was said above, it does look like some one at the factory decided to turn a hinged cuff template into a rigid cuff, for whatever reason? Could have been a special order request or maybe just a test from the factory? Its hard to say without knowing its history for sure. I can say that I have never seen one like that before.

Does anyone know if Hiatts are a collector friendly company or are they not interested in historical questions?

Also is there a list of Hiatts serial numbers / dates anywhere?
