It's been a long time since I've looked online for Parker Field adverts. One is dated 1807 but I don't think they sold handcuffs until the London Police Force was formed. Just love the old ads.

I have a darby handcuff marked "W. Parker" . Where would that have fallen in the timeline, year wise, for production? There is no "Field" or "Field and Sons" stamps on it? I would appreciate any info that anyone could give on that.

I have one cuff marked Parker and Police. William Parker died in 1841 a few years after getting the contract to supply the Police with all their gear. So that should narrow it down significantly.

Can anyone tell me if this backstrap Darby stamped W Parker Holborn would be from the time period of the add pictured above or a later date? Thanks for any help, it’s greatly appreciated. Ron J

I think your cuff is from the early 19th century, perhaps the 1820-1830 or so. It would have likely been made for them by Nichols or Hiatt.

The cuff came with a key marked Hiatt that works each cuff perfectly. Thank you for the information. Ron J

Here's a link to some earlier research on Parker / Field. But, I agree with Joe. My Parker cuffs stamped Police are probably around 1840.

Here is my Parker, Holborn. Police cuff. It is not marked W.Parker, just Parker.
William Parker, a gun maker, had the contract to supply Londons first Police force. In one of the ads above it says 'armourers to police'.
I also have a Parker, whistle and a Parker police sword.
