Harrison Nippers

I found these recently. A set of Harrison Nippers. I had never seen a set of these come up for sale, in my time searching for cuffs, but i was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time for these. Overall, they are in good condition and work well. Mine is stamped, "Pat Applied For." Who else has one of these? What stampings are on your set?  How rare are they? and does anyone know about what they are worth in today's market? I appreciate any insight here, so I can fill out my catalog with info for this great set of nippers!

Very nice nipper Richard. The body of mine is made of aluminum without any plating and the center plate is also aluminum with some sort of plating that matches the color of the aluminum.  The release button seem to be brass plated steel.  There are no markings and very light weight.

I’m not sure what value to place on these but they are exceedingly rare, you and Ron are the only collectors I know of that have a set. Don’t know how you did it but it’s a real find.

Ron, Thank you for the compliment and for the information on your own nipper. I should add that mine is made of Nickel Plated Brass and has some weight to it. I wonder if the aluminum or the Brass version is more rare? I dont know a lot about these, as you can tell.

Mine is stamped PAT. APPLIED FOR and is made of nickel plated brass.

Matt, Thank you for sharing your information on your pair. I had to amend my post that said mine were made of steel. I now realize after reading that yours are nickel plated brass, that my pair is as well. The magnet was only sticking to the hardware and not on the nipper itself. So far, we have 2 nickel plated brass pairs and one pair made of aluminum. Hope to hear more collectors weigh in here.

Here is a picture of my aluminum Harrison Nipper.  The patent was granted on August 6, 1901.  Mine is not marked.
