Murray, is the "expert" who the show brings in to verify the collection. He is a very well known magician in Vegas and yes, he also collects handcuffs. I have never seen him on this board, but that doesnt mean he hasnt looked though these pages, possibly. The seller is not familiar to me. Pawn Stars, is a TV show. Not everything they do or say is the "truth." The guy selling this collection may just be an actor, who is standing there with some one else's cuff collection? The show is there for entertainment purposes only, so the things you see them buying, you wont always find for sale in their inventory. One of our own board members on this forum, was the expert they called in to verify a set of Mckenzie Mitts that was see on one of the episodes of Pawn Stars. I will let him step forward and continue with that story, if he chooses, to.

Pawn Stars usually send their unusual or Higher priced items to Auctions unfortunately!
And one of their ''Experts was determined to be involved with incoming "Sellers" and he would falsely identify Fakes as authentic and split the cash!

I agree 100% but the cuff collection still looked pretty good and it looked authentic to me a least! And the value , although I have forgotten the total seemed actual. ( ? )

I would be shocked to learn if Murray REALLY was  a "handcuff collector" and/or knew ANYTHING about the history of restraints, aside from what the TV Show SCRIPT makes him say.

Joe,  I did some research on him back in the day, and IF he had any sort of collection, nobody bought sold or traded with him that I could find.
Some sources said he had an unknown amount of modern cuffs but nothing that anyone here would be interested in.

The video above has him calling a Pratt model 2 , a model 1....which indicates that he knows nothing of the subject at hand and was simply repeating what he just read from the very talented research team from the show.
As most of us know and commented, at the time of his 1st appearance, he was not able to properly name the most common handcuff made in England.  He blamed the error on the premise that he had recently met a lady named Darcy and was confused.

I am not sure if anyone in the collecting community ever met someone the with the last name of Powers the day before and called their vintage double lock cuffs a "Powers", but I somehow doubt it!
