Rare Waffen SS Gestapo Berlin Police Handcuffs with 2 keys, marked

Excellent condition , marked , I'd buy them.
I have bought several things from this guy!

Unfortunately I don't know if you are joking or not but they look great , they are very historically important and they don't grow on trees!
And absolutely anything that is related to or connected to the S.S or the Gestapo and the NAZIS is extremely sellable , collectable and will always have eager buyers!
And remember , if it's German made it has to be good!

Do you think that the price is too high considering the item and the condition of the item?

It says under the picture, so it's confirmed, they were used by the Waffen SS Gestapo Berlin Police on POWs. Now we just have to find out if these were Heinrich Himmler's personal handcuffs. Because if they are, then they aren't asking nearly enough for them.

The seller seems to be an honest Canadian that has been collecting NAZI Regalia for 40 years and since he bought things when they were Cheap he is willing to give a decent discount! Just selling to buy a house!
He will always tell you if it's a Replica or he may say that it could be an After the War produced item but by the original factory or that it's a Composite Dagger or whatever.
Honest in my opinion and NAZI items are my Real Specialty since the 70's .

In his honest opinion.
I bought it and he has a great payment program!
I missed out on some huge money makers . This stuff goes up faster than Gold or the NYSE!

First, the handcuffs in the auction photo are East German, made of aluminium. East Germany was formed in 1949 and these handcuffs were manufactured in 1950's.

SS (Schutzstaffel) existed from 1925 to 1945. Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei) existed from 1933 to 1945.
Both S.S. and Gestapo probably used lots of different brands of restraints. According to my knowledge, no specific brand or model was used which mean ALL Grman made handcuffs from 1925 to 1945 can be considered as S.S. and Gestapo handcuffs.

Like any of these.

East and West German Cuffs may not have differed very much for a while . Fucking Communist didn't use Cuffs!
They just shot everyone !
Seriously , the Cuffs for sale look great to me at least and so does your collection! But I just started and my funds and my ability to locate and have one of my very helpful "Mules" bring down my items while in Stage 1 Virus Lockdown is very limited!
I'm having to pay $300.00 Bucks for some #15 Clejusos!
When I can get them for $120.00 .
Unless someone is willing to sell or trade me a pair for items valued at 5 times the value of the Clejusos!

Yes, I find that the price for this cuff is grossly over the average amount for an example such as this.
I have had mine for some time and paid about $15 at the time. That was at a large gun show in the early 80's.
Currently, I see these on eBay in the low $100 range often enough so I was shocked to see this seller listing these at $550 and without original keys.
The seller's claim that they are Gestapo issued is also disingenuous. I knew that these were post war era but as Lars eloquently provided a more factual historic timeline, this information indicates that this seller is glorifying his ware to produce a history making profit.

If this is the case, then he should know that his sales pitch is completely fictitious and he might be better suited as a writer of fairy tales in children's books.
These are very common and with some patience, you will find a nice set with an original key for $125ish.

Thank you Ian for your kind words! I'm not sure I am a TV personality but I think history and knowledge is a very important part of collectiing.

It's easy to jump to quick conclutions when we lack facts. I've always been very careful to keep up to the known facts. In many cases, we don't know the facts and we need to make assumptions. There is still a great difference beween facts and assupmtions.

Here is an example. These handcuffs are German. According to sources from a deceased German fellow collector, they were made by Karl Schwertfeger in Hannover. Michael Busch have put lots of time searching several patent registers for information but he unfortunately failed as many patent archives were destroyed during WWII.

Therefore, I don't present these handcuffs as Schwertfeger on my web site, only "possibly" made by Schwertfeger as this is an assumption without known facts or evidence.

As a curiosity, these cuffs are most likely the original pattern the later made "Kakola" handcuffs, made in Finland, are based on.

You're right Lars. Fact is better than alternative facts and assumptions. It's honest to say you don't know than to make up a theory to make you feel comfortable or to make you feel like you know. There are several handcuff collector personal websites with miss named cuffs. There are online videos of handcuffs collections where misinformation is now part of the narrative as if it somehow enhances the story but it just confuses and misinforms. There are over 900 members here and only about 15 post Some assume those who post are the ones who know what they are talking about. When misinformation is given, poorly researched information and when made up terms to describe operations and parts, it muddies the water. I see it on several Farcebook hobby sites, for cuff, keys and lock. People just comment for the sake of it, repeat errors and really don’t care about truth. It’s more like visiting a church than a university. My respect is for the those who actually do real research and are sharing it with us.
