Help with Identification and Rough Price Estimate

I've been asked by my grandmother to ID and price out the cuffs my grandfather had hanging in his living room. I'm sure I can do this by visiting the gallery and comparing them (I tried this, but it will probably take me hours), I know many of you guys here can look at them and know instantly what they are. Some of them I'll probably need to take down off the wall and look for trademark/patent marking I'm sure but these were the only pictures I had on hand while making this post. All your help is greatly appreciated. There are no plans to take them down off the wall, but if they ever do need to be sold, I'll make sure this forum gets first dibs.

Hi Joe,

My grandfather was just a collector of things. Stamps, coins, beer glasses and signs and of course handcuffs. One day my grandmother said she thought an old antique lock was nice looking and that started him on his journey of collecting cuffs. Not sure exactly when he started collecting, probably at least 50 years ago. He was a high school biology teacher and football coach and was in the Korean war so nothing in particular that would have made him interested in handcuffs other than the fact one day grandmother mentioned how she liked an old antique lock (which is still sitting in her living room - yes they had each had their own living room, lol).

For sure, I appreciate how quick he identified everything but I'm also a millennial, so really no hard feeling I completely understand the attempt to hussle. Like I said, I don't think there are plans to sell anything, anytime soon. My grandfather would have wanted me to have his collection (he's given me almost everything he didn't have on display before he passed - mostly Hiatt and S&W new old stock), but I'll respect whatever my grandmother wants to do. She is in no way hurting for money so she doesn't need to sell them or anything like that, but there has been family drama about other stuff so I think she just wants to get all his items figured out and then decide who gets what and/or if things need to be sold. I would say there's less than a 5% chance anything is going to be sold. I'd like to consider myself a fair man and I know many of these cuffs are highly sought after.  SO, should they have to be sold, I'm not going to just let them go to the person with the largest bank account, if they need to be sold I would likely do some sort of lottery system and figure out a fair price on each cuff and let the winner of the lottery pick a cuff, then draw someone else, etc. 

Edit - and yes, I will remember your post should I have to sell anything. There a couple people that my grandfather used to snail-mail communicate pre-internet days that are still around that I would also likely give first picks to.. There are some cuffs that I'll refuse let be sold simply because they were some of his most cherished such as the Tower Detectives and Lilly's (not pictured).

MikePel, as far as prices go, it would be best to give an estimate, closer to if anything would go on sale. The prices of cuffs are all over the board, high and low, right now. Some cuffs do hold their value, very well. Others, not so much. A lot of the cuffs you have are pretty common in the American market. And yes, there are a few rarities mixed in there.

Your grandfather had a nice assortment of cuffs. We were all brought to collect for one reason or another. Its great to see that your grandfather also branched out and collected other things that made him happy! And the end of the day, thats what collections are for most of us. Surrounding ourselves with the things that make us happy, we get to see how the lock mechanisms work, learn the history of the piece, etc. Very few of us, i think, see our collections as investments? I dont plan to sell any of my collection, until i reach closer to the end of my time on Earth. Everything is well documented for anyone who may be tasked with sorting and selling off my collection after i'm gone.

Just a quick question. Do you know which cuff your grandfather considered to be his favorite of all of those that he has?

Well done on identifying the cuffs, agree on everything except for ‘O’ which I think is a Sirchie Finger Print cuff (or possibly Guardian Handcuff Co).

Almost had a heart attack when for a fleeting second, I thought I saw Cummings Leg Irons.

The long chain version is still something I've never seen before.  Wonder if it is factory issue or not.

I looked at that one for quite a while before saying Peerless, Chris. Now that I look at it, armed with your insight, I believe you are correct on Sirchie Fingerprint Labs! Very keen eyesight! Thank you for the correction!
