This entire series is very interesting and very well done but this particular episode has a few minutes that cover various types of Cuffs and other types of Restraints that were actually used at the time and no doubt would be a most welcome addition to anyone's collection.
The "Darby" style restraints are very interesting because it makes me wonder exactly how old is the original design ?

If you like history this is a very good film to watch.  It is part of a series on British Castles, this one being the Lancaster Castle and it place in history.  Too bad they did not show more of the restraints that were on the wall.

Yes Sir ! 
I too was very disappointed that they didn't cover the other restraints. Can anyone please shed some more light on the other types of restraints in the Documentary?

Many thanks for posting the link. We were very close to Lancaster Castle two weeks ago. I wish I had known before so I could have visited it.
Keep up the good work and take no notice of the members in the group who post negative comments.

I Have a very Strong Impression that the dissenting individuals  must be wearing the Headpieces creating a "Tongue Tied" situation.

Is there a dissenter among us?  Big surprise!  I don't see any negative comments, so I assume his bit of nothing was sent to the cornfield where it belongs.  
I don't see how this blog could attract anything cynical, but if there is a will....

I thank you for for posting this as I have never heard of this castle before, and I do love visiting castles.
Some very nice restraints they have on display.  I too wish they devoted more time on the restraint's topic.  These pics are about all I could find on line so far.



Here is a 1989 Getty photo which states that the restraints were used to transport convicts to Australia. 
The rivet style leg iron in this photo is most often associated with Australia and I am surprised to see that they are of British origin. (just above and left of the Getty logo)
I figured that they were made and used in Australia, exclusively. 



This is a restraining chair they have on display



The neck collars on the wall make for an interesting display!

In searching for more pics for this topic, I found far more at the Clink museum near the London Bridge in London.
I wish I know about this when I was there last.





Really?  Providence Tool Company cuffs? Like, they could not find any Hiatts?
If you wondered where the name "The Clink" came from.

I am not quite sure how authentic some of their restraints are but worth a visit when in the area.

I don't know if any of you have been fortunate enough to be on the Shutting Side of the Cage and yes , it absolutely doesn't sound like a little Clink .
Whether you happen to be fortunate enough to be on the exterior or the interior but when that GODDAMN 100 Percent , Hardened and Reinforced Sliding U.S Steel Sliding Gate SLAMS SHUT behind you it's hardly a "CLINK!" 
I could only pray that their over aggressive slamming would somehow destroy the 
Door's filthy mechanism , if not just for the peace of mind! I felt much better in than out !
Except for the manner of playing Dominos and Cards.  I had a fantasy of flushing just One domino and one Card  down the Water fountain . 
Ironically the 40 Coldest days that I endured in my celebrated existence in my entire like was a Summer in Houston , Texas!  
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT AND I LAUGHFED FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME IN 2 YEARS!
Long Story but it's in the MOVIE! Already won in Mar del Plata , Argentina .
Mexico Shiity.
Canada , our Backstabbing  Neighbors.
And Colombia .....enough said no doubt!

Mark, you did not miss much by not visiting The Clink. Most of the items are reproductions, but they do have a really nice heavy Plug Legiron probably weighs 12lb.
They did approach me several years ago and wondered if I they could ‘Borrow’ so of my collection to put on display. We could not come to an agreement and I was not happy with their proposal.

At this moment there are ( 50 ) Handcuffs on E-Scam under the search titled "Antique Handcuffs." that range from $25.00 to $35.00 but of course the vast majority were made yesterday in Pakistan unfortunately.
However , if you search under "Vintage Handcuffs" there are 134 Handcuffs listed from about  $14.50 to $147.00 and yes , a shitload of Wacky Packy Melted Iron masquerading as Handcuffs. Vintage of course.

But from what little I know there seem to be quite a few desirable wrist wraps in the mix!

A few uncsrupulously worded , artificially aged , and quickly Patiniated just in time for Christmas!
