Anyway, there was no description of operability & without key you won't be able to make the seller responsible if the locking mechanism turns out to be defective or worn out.
Do they seem legitimate though? From my limited knowledge they seem legitimate but after seeing too many believable "repro" WW1 whistles, enough to make me ditch the idea of looking for genuine marked military whistles, I like to check here about my cuffs that I am uncertain about.
Those are 100 percent genuine, hiatt 104 handcuffs. There are a variety of markings depending on when they were made. M&C is a known marking but yes uncommon on balance.

What is the significance of M&C being stamped on them? I tried to search for it on here but the search is not working, just constantly saying needs 5 seconds and then it cycles back every time I try. If anyone knows I would appreciate understanding the meaning/significance of the M&C on those 1916 Hiatts.
The M & C mark was a mystery for quite a while, but we now know it stands for Military and Civil. This is the British army designation for those parts of the Army that included procurement.
