#1And although they may be considered Wacky Packies and most likely "Copies" or replicas of lesser quality design , workmanship and material these cuffs are the same weight ( by a few grams ) maybe , but they are excellent and they were used by an escape artist for 15 years but they are impeccable! And unfortunately they only poses (1) key but although my word doesn't mean squat to some members who obviously lack a basic sense of humor I'm 100% satisfied and the seller is offering a set of ''Irish 8's" and a set of cuffs that use a bicycle chain type of chain that he calls ''Darby" 15's yet I haven't been able to locate any information yet.
And yes Boys, I will buy the CUFF "Bible'' if I can find it in B.A !
Or maybe get it HELICOPTERED in !

#2If you post up a pic of the cuffs, we can let you know if they are authentic or if the are India or Pakistan in origin. Congrats on the nice price for the Hamburg 8s! I have always loved their simple design.

#4Thats still a good price for a solid cuff. I cant tell, from the pics, but does the key have "KUB" stamped on it? The darbys are a legit set. Its also nice to have 2 keys with them. By "no catches" im guessing that you are referring to the darby cuffs that have the multiple ratchet style teeth on the swing arm, to allow for the arms to be adjusted to fit smaller sizes? If that is the case, The darby you have is called a "non-adjustable darby handcuff" and will only have one catch in the swing arm to lock the cuffs. The style with the adjustable arms is known as an "adjustable darby handcuff." Here is a pic of an adjustable darby for comparison.

The key to the ''Hamburgs'' is stamped ''Victor Works" and the Darbys are most definitely Non -Ajustable and very small! Curious thing ; the key to the authentic Darbys will open ( half ) of my "Agentinian or Spanish'' manufactured Darby copies!
Any chance of causing any damage to either the keys or the Cuffs Pal?

#7No worries, TL. Victor Works is about like KUB, as far as quality. Well made pieces, just not worth a lot and no historical value. Since you did get them for a good price, i would mark them and toss them in your collection. They are a neat piece to have and also make a good display when you set an authentic pair or two of Hamburg 8s next to them. Showing the difference between the new and the old.
The key question is a bit tougher to answer. If the key will screw all of the way into your other darbys and open, then its fine to use that key for that cuff. If the key only screws in part way and stops, you can risk pulling back on the key, to pull back the locking bolt and release the cuffs. But, check the key to make sure it has a good grip on the threads before pulling it. Doing this can cause the small threads inside of the key and inside of the cuffs, to become damaged and possibly become stripped out. Then the key will be of no use to any cuff. If the key barely screws in, do not risk pulling back on the key. When you are screwing the key into other cuffs, stop as soon as you feel resistance from the key. That means the threads are not exactly the same and you risk cross threading or double threading your key and there will be no guarantees that it will still work on the set of cuffs the keys came with. There are a lot of different thread pitches and diameters to consider. Many are close to each other, but the key will not fully thread into the lock tube to release the locking bolt. So, again, this is something you have to decide if you are willing to try. Personally, I would wait until you have more darby cuffs in your collection and are more familiar with their keys and how the cuffs operate and what they feel like as the key is screwed in. But thats just my two cents on the subject.
