Providence Tool Company Leg Irons Question - Ebay Listing

Just noticed someone on eBay has listed some Providence Tool Co Leg Irons, here's the link:   https://www.ebay.com/itm/353637626193?h ... SwtKNhIoBb (without the key).  My question was if these look like their original finish, or did Prov produce their restraints with dull steel look from the factory?  They appear to me to have like a "gold spray paint" look, or maybe it's just the sellers pic...I guess it doesn't matter, these are decent find for the winner regardless.

Hi Kris, for the age of Prov,  irons, they should have a patina (brown) I suspect they have been bead blasted, Sand blasting who have damaged the stamping. (always hard to tell from photos alone)
keys are not an issue. I currently have some available.

The cuffs might have been cleaned in a caustic soda bath too.

I was under the impression that the Providence Tool Co. offered their irons plated or unplated but the examples I own are all unplated.

 Is it possible that it's a plated version?  I've seen a few pairs like this. 
I was told that this was a plated Providence Tool cuff when I bought it. Poorly plated. 
The color on the auction cuffs looks similar but is showing much less patina.

Chrome plating

I want to just say this eBay seller can’t be trusted. Not in my opinion anyway. I purchased his Providence Tool Darby’s that he has now relisted on eBay. He sold those to me at a full price saying nothing about the arc weld repair that had been done on them or showing any repair in his pictures. When I received them I was more then disturbed seeing the repair. I contacted the seller and got no response. I then contacted eBay and was able to get a full refund. The seller has blocked me and has never answered any on my messages. Rant over!

Providence Tool handcuffs were nickel plated, I have a pair in mint condition. I was the purchaser of the leg irons that started this thread. These too are nickel plated. The marking "Prov Tool Co." is quite clear indicating no sign of sand blasting or other means of removing any finish.
I have the same complaint though that rejones68 has. When I received the legirons from the seller (papertrl) I got a highly rusted pair that looked nothing like the photos on EBAY. I emailed him and complained and he responded that he sent me the wrong ones. He refunded me the cost of shipping these back to him and today I received the pair I bid on. I have a hard time believing this was an honest mistake and see it as an attempt at bait and switch. Be very cautious with this guy.

That guy is a total scam! He sold the Providence Tool cuffs telling me they were in fine shape, never showing the arc weld done on them. eBay got me my money back thankfully. Them since that seller blocked me on eBay I had my brother get the cuffs for me on eBay for the second time. $205 was much better then around $650. Ron J
