Rare Joseph Lorey Handcuffs:
DESCRIPTION:
Joseph Lorey combination dial 6 wheel handcuffs. The combination lock with numbered wheels is built into the lock body. One of four known to exist.
Joseph Lorey was a machinist who was imprisoned in the late 1800s for murder. He served his time in Folsom and San Quentin. He designed the handcuff and made them while working as a machinist at San Quentin. He patented the handcuff and a padlock in 1912.

Four Marlin leg irons, and Ron Spitz and I just finished an ER list of known ER's. Thanks to all for posting pics and the information shared. I will dig out photos of a few unknowns and post them soon, and perhaps someone can help ID them. Some very unusual stuff!

It is on pretty reliable source that the Magic Castle has one and another is in a private collection.
I do not believe that the one I just won was known in 2016 when John mentioned that there was 5 that he knew about.
The possibility exists that there might be 6 of these around.

fyi--The Magic Castle hasn't had the Lorey handcuff on display - for several decades (from the Bob Stull Collection).
Current whereabouts - unknown.
