ASP Legirons - anyone?

Hey everyone,

So I managed to get hold of a pair of ASP legirons (waiting for them to actually be delivered from customs here in Ireland) but anyone that I've mentioned this to seems to have no idea about them. Has anyone ever actually had a pair? or used them? or anything?

The main question I've been asked is if they're bootcut or not, whatever that means...any thoughts what that's about?

I have had a few pairs run through my hands, but I do not currently have one in the collection. ASP Leg Irons  are not a "boot cut" or boot cuff size. The ASP Leg Irons are the standard size for a Leg Iron. "Boot Cut" is a term we use in the states here to describe a style of bluejeans, that is flared below the knee a little bit to fit over you work or cowboy boots. "Boot Cuffs" are a size of Leg Irons are a much larger than the standard size leg irons, so they can be worn over your boots. Keeping the boot tops between the leg irons and your ankle skin is much more comfortable than having leg irons only separated from your ankle skin by your pants. The boot tops giving thicker barrier an more protection. The three sizes of leg irons are:
1. Standard
2. Oversized ( a little bit larger than standard, made for prisoners with thicker legs)
3. Boot Cuffs

Youre welcome! There are only a hand full of companies that have ever made a boot cuff. The one I showed is from American Handcuff Co. called the Model L-600. Its a rare one to find, though since the company went out of business about 10-12 years ago. Hiatt-Thompson also made a set of Boot Cuffs (Model 5259). CTS Thompson (Model 5259). Gall's RS-138, The Chicago Handcuff Co. (Model 2500). I have also seen a "knock-off" stamped "Taiwan." These are the ones I know of, anyway. But, they all look exactly the same. I dont think there are any differences in any of them? Of the ones listed, the Chicago Handcuff Co. Version is still available and the CTS Thompson is also still sold. There is a seller on Ebay.co.uk who lists sets for sale, every so often.
