Tuff Kuffs

Looking for a pari of Tuff Kuffs. I know they are no longer in business (don't know why they closed). Does anyone know if theses  cuffs are any good? Any models prone to issues which I should stay away from?

I have a pair in like-new condition. I don't know for sure why they're no longer available, but I do know they are a very uncomfortable restraint. The non- swiveling action of the center link could possibly be responsible for injury in the case of a person fighting and struggling while wearing these cuffs. Whereas chain linked or even hinged cuffs would allow certain movements, these cuffs will not.

How much are you expecting to pay for a pair?

I have not  seen many positive reviews on them. Looks like they have sold for between $100-$130. If people were being injured by these cuffs that is most likely why they are not in business then.

The one way center swivel was the reason for their failure. They needed to alter the design because once the cuffs were turned to a certain point, the swivel should have locked into place to keep the swivel from allowing to turn more. Prisoners could wrestle and fight the cuffs and get themselves into some very strained positions. The swivel wouldnt allow them to turn the cuffs back a bit, so they would get injured from the weird contortions they would get caught in. Causing damage to tendons, joints, muscles, etc. They are a hard cuff to come across, since not a lot were made and people like them for their unique design. They can pull some really high pricing as well, due to their rarity.

Tuff kuffs

They were made in 3 models, a unique and very interesting concept but had the problem they did not have a stop at 180 degrees so they could be over-twisted making it necessary to release them.
Think you will be lucky to pick up a pair for less than $300

Is there any info on how many of these cuffs were ever produced? 

I have been fortunate enough to find 2 of the 3 models, Chris mentioned. I thought there were four models tho? One that has entirely black?  Can anyone verify that? I have the Stainless Steel and the Alpha-Sierra (stainless body with black swing arms) Models. If anyone has an Alpha-Bravo Model (black body with stainless swing arms) or the all black version that they want to sell, I would love to get one of each to finish  to finish the set. Hoping to find one with box and paperwork, original keys. Also need to find 1 original key to replace the missing one from my Alpha Sierra set.

Confirmed. There are 4 models in total. This sales page, shows all 4 of them. No names given, however. It does say the cuffs are "on extended back order", which I find rather humorous! LOL!

I would think since there is no longer a company that exists, the Lifetime Warranty has come to an end. The company's "lifetime" wasnt very long, it seems. LOL!

I have the Alpha-Bravo model, interesting that the instructions were modified with a reminder. Have never seen the black pair does anyone have these in their collection? Judging by numbers I think the most popular model was the standard stainless steel model. Do we have any ideas how many were made?

The Tuff Kuffs are pretty hard to come by these days and you rarely see them for sale. I unfortunately have no information on how many were manufactured.

I bought two of them when they were introduced; the stainless and the black.

Seeing the MSRP for these was $100, I don't think a lot of officers or agencies bought many. My guess would be 500 or less have been made.

A set is pictured in this thread from a few days ago. The seller is taking offers via his email. Not sure how much he is expecting to get, but I can tell you that these cuffs do not sell cheap.  Wtb tuff kuffs

txtank15, i provided the link to the thread, in my post above yours ^^^. Click on that, go back to page 1, since it opens on page 2 for some reason? Read through that short thread. A member on there, says we has a set he is taking offers on. Im not sure who he is or where he is from, but he shows the set he is selling with several pics. He gives no indication how much he wants for the set, just that he is taking offers. That is the first set that has come up for sale on here in quite some time. They are very sought after cuffs.

A company in Korea named Yuil, looks to be considering making a cheaper version of a cuff based on the Tuff Kuffs. But, i contacted them about 3 months ago and they said it was just a thought for now. They have a picture of the cuff up on their website, but as of now, have not made any. I would imagine the more people who ask about them and inquire about buying one, they may push into at least a limited run production, but I cant guarantee that. They are the first company that has looked at revisiting this design, since Tuff Kuff closed its doors many years ago. I also dont know exactly how the Yuil concept cuffs would function? The center section is quite a bit different than the Tuff Kuffs, but it does appear to have some type of a twisting feature to them. The downfall of the Tuff Kuffs were that their twisting feature was only a one way turn and would not turn back on itself. So, that allowed prisoners to struggle against the cuffs and over twist the cuffs into positions that cut off circulation, etc. Causing damage to the person in the cuffs. Yuil's design, looks to have a lock in the center to allow the cuffs to twist or act more like a hinged version. However, i dont know at this point, whether the cuffs will twist and be lockable at the halfway point (180 degrees) to allow for the vertical stacking of the arms, like the Tuff Kuffs did? If they do twist and lock in the 180 degree position, that would have eliminated the main issue with the original Tuff Kuffs. Here is a link to Yuil's website that shows their new concept cuffs.
