are these authenic or reproduction

picked these up at an estate sale. authentic? age? value? only thing on them is the #14 on one cuff and on the key. any help will be most appreciated thank you :)

Hello and welcome to the forum pages! Unfortunately, the cuff you have is worth about $20. Its a modern reproduction of a style of cuff that was popularized in the U.K. This style of Handcuff is known as a "darby." Your cuff was made in India or Pakistan, most likely. Very commonly found on sites like Ebay. They are made for and are sold mainly to the tourist market. Often sold as "Authentic Slave Shackles", etc. The brown patina on them is artificially produced to simulate the cuffs having age to them.  No real collectors value, unfortunately. I hope you didnt spend too much to get this set?

Glad to hear that the investment was minimal. On the set of keys you show, i believe they are the same type of thing? Just decorative pieces. But, i am not 100% sure, since I do not collect keys per-say. Ive seen similar on key collecftor forums and they were said to be modern reproductions. Maybe someone else on here can verify better than I?

100% disagree with "per-say" spelling. ha ha. Latin per sē (“by itself”), from per (“by, through”) and sē (“itself, himself, herself, themselves”).
Jack Tanis (R.I.P.) would have been all over that.

Thanks for the grammar and spell check, Paul! I am glad that you were able to correct that. I really messed up my attempt at it and spell check changed it to what it is now....which still isnt right! LOL! Now, I know.
