Houdini's Mystery Cuff

I was going thru some pics looking for an upcoming article and noticed this display board that belonged to Pat Croce who sold this at auction.
I can't identify the cuff on the right.
Ron Spitz and I have similar looking cuffs which are Japanese in origin but don't quite match up with the one on the board.

Anyone have a clue?

Mark, I have no clue what that cuff could be. I do see the similarities to yours and Ron's cuffs that you are referring to. But, looking at the shape of the body and the shackle of the cuff, to me, it has an American feel to it. But, that is purely a gut feeling. I have never seen that cuff on the display board anywhere else and curious if anyone else may have any other pics of it?

Both Mark's and my cuff came from dealers in Japan.  At first I thought they were American but due to the location of the dealer, who also sold older items from Japan.  The locking system of the two cuffs are different.  Mark's has holes in the bows and mine are the regular type with teeth.  They are well built and not cheap.

I knew both yours and Mark's cuffs were Japanese. The shape of the one on the Houdini display, however, just reminds me of a few American made cuffs of that time. My gut feeling is that it was either a modified version of something or maybe even a one-off custom built set. Perhaps they had a quick release gimmick and were made for Houdini?

These Japanese cuffs are really cool! I would have loved to find a set for my collection.
