Takeda Legirons

Just wondering how many of you have a set of Japanese Takeda Legirons? I bought my set from Don Hinz in about 1976. I am sure several of us remember him. He stamped his name on most of the items he sold!

Never had a pair and not only that, never held one in my hands.

Same as Mark. I have never had a chance to see or to buy a pair. Only seen them in books, until your pictures were posted.

  One of the very first handcuffs that I bought was a Takeda, it was from a 
 sporting goods store.  The Takeda leg-iron I got from Ray McKee many 
years later. They match up perfectly.

Must be rare if you do not have them Mark!

I have to agree.

I have Stotz Leg Irons
I have Marlin Leg Irons
I have Mattatuck Leg Irons
I have Lovell Leg Irons
I have Adams Leg irons
I have H&R Super Leg Irons
I have Tower Leg Irons with swivels
I have Muhlenfeld Leg Irons
Yet, I have NEVER touched a Taketa Leg Iron!

I bought my Takeda Legirons from dealer, Frank Roshon. He was selling them in 1978, for $38.00.

Because today's cheaply-made "Takeda handcuffs" are found in adult novelty stores, and in toy shops...people are surprised to see the existence of the matching Legirons. The existence of the Legirons enforces the fact that the older, better-made "Takeda-style" handcuffs were once a very real & official handcuff of the Japanese Police (Many of us here, have examples of "Takeda" handcuffs marked with Japanese symbols and/or text). 
Many of the older models had an internal "anti-picking" brass ring inside the keyhole. This ring revolved and BLOCKED the keyhole when one tried to "pick" the lock with something other than the key. This made those Takeda handcuffs known as the "world's only TRIPLE-Locking" handcuffs!
...oh yes, the Legirons have this internal brass ring too.

Takeda handcuffs and legirons we're inexpensive when I first started to collect. I had picked up these from Larry Weeks I don't think I paid more then $25.00 for the pair. Frank Roshan that's a name I haven't heard in awhile.

A thought to ponder: 
 If the Legirons were so "plentiful" during the 1960's+ (offered on many "dealer lists"...Where'd they all go?

I've had these for some time. Never was 100% sure what they are, I always took them for Japanese or maybe Chinese.
