British Handcuffs (1944) S.W. Din & Son

Hi everybody,
recently I was able to add these handcuffs to the collection. They look like Indian Darbies and are marked what looks like "S. W. Din & Son" (can't read the second line), "1944", "No. 2" and a broad arrow.
They appear well made.

Does anyone have any information on this type?

Nice cuffs. The second line says Aligarh. Aligarh is a major city in Pakistan. In 1941 it would have been part of British India.

Aligarh was and still is one of the major lock and lock related hub cities for manufacturing in the world. Kinda like Birmingham in England, Vittorio in Italy, or Lancaster in the US.

Those cuffs show manufacturing cues from both Pakistan/India and English design. Very cool!

Really, exceptionally lovely handcuffs.

I have a pair marked U.M.W. Not sure what it means or if it was a manufacturer. Very very nice meaty darbies. Mine do not have a date. Given the lacking of a date does this indicate if they are either more likely before WW2 or if they might be just after WW2? I have them logged down as WW2 era because I could not find any specifics.

I have attached a large image of mine and I have an overview video of them:

If anyone knows what the U.M.W might mean or a better approximate age I'd appreciate it.

Am I right in thinking there's very little, if any, information about these really nicely crafted heavy Indian Darby handcuffs?
