Handcuffs US to UK checked luggage

Good day,
Has anyone recently brought handcuffs from the US to UK in their checked luggage? I am looking into buying some ASP handcuffs and according to the TSA website handcuffs are allowed in checked luggage but I would like your experience if you ever did so.

In February I visited Portland, OR, and brought a number of handcuffs with me. Bringing in cuffs to Europe has never been a problem. During my stay in Portland i communicated with TSA asking them if I was allowed to bring handcuffs in my carry-on luggage. They told me that is ok and I also didn't have any problems in the security check.But as they answer, you better check the state and local laws so i only can speak for Oregon.

This is because laws in America are rather silly and screwed up, and yes in some states/cities it's illegal to carry handcuffs... NYC for example is one of those where technically it's illegal, but there are plenty of stores and shops in NYC selling them... it's one of those it's the law but never enforced type things.

So.. yes.. what Lars said :)

Just a side note to this silly law thing.
When I was in Oregon a few months ago, my friend and I visited the Oregon State Mental Hospital in Salem.
This was also the filming location of the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".
They ask if we were residents of the state, and my friend was in the affirmative. I was not so I had to check in with them.
It was a very cool museum with some restraints and strait jackets and film props.  The closed off portion of the facility is still a working hospital.
So now if someone asks, yes, I did have to check myself into a mental hospital.

Thank you all for your input. My concern is not as much about being able to buy some ASP cuffs while in the US but rather any issues with me taking them out of the US in my checked luggage.

Talking about the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". My first visit in Portland was in the summer of 1994. A friend and I drove the entire west coast, from San Diego to Seattle. While in Portland we visited Mount Hood outside Portland.
The mountain has snow on the top all year and there is a nice hotel close to the top; Timberline Lodge. The exterior for "The Shining", also with Jack Nicholson, was filmed there. At the "Overlook Hotel", in the movie.

Lars, I always thought the hotel was in Colorado, but I just discovered that Steven King stayed at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado as was the inspiration for the story.
As you pointed out, The Mt Hood location was used as the movie location.

In Cuckoo's Nest, I snapped this pic of the entrance to the administration building a block from the hospital.
In the movie, they made it appear that this entrance to the hospital itself.
I was not actually aware that I was standing in or about where this famous pic of Jack in handcuffs also stood when he was about to be admitted.
When I watched the movie the night after our trip, I was pleased that we stood in the same spot.
I never noticed that the cuffed-up Jack is also wearing a restrain belt with the cuffs.
