S&W 90 with markings DFC and A/A ?

Hi there.

I have just received a pair of Smith & Wesson model 90 and they have some kind of personal serial number inscribed on them but they also have more professional stamping of DFC and A / A

I did a quick search here but I could not find any references to DFC. Does anyone have any ideas what either of these DFC or A / A might mean?

(I have tried several times to get the picture on here, so I will have to try an external link) 

I think the “D” probably stands for department while the “C” for corrections but this only a guess on my part and I have no idea on the other letters. Obviously professionally done by some institution.

I have a feeling they may have been in military service. There's a number inscribed on it in VERY free-hand style and when searching for service numbers of personnel around the world (given they are USA cuffs and apparently bought from there) the format corresponded with the US section of wikipedia for service numbers for social security number. So I have a feeling the owner inscribed their social security number on them perhaps. Not sure if that adds any extra context.
