This set of mitts were in an estate auction starting last Friday in the Dallas, TX area.  The price was around $3400 and they did not sell.  The next day, Saturday they sold for 25% off the original price.  If the buyer waited until after 1 PM they would have been 50% off the original price.

I think with a wider market like Ebay has, these will bring a pretty good, but lower than average, price. My guess is that they reach to at least $3500.

The owner of the mitts whose estate sale they came from did not seem to specifically collect cuffs or police equipment, just rare expensive oddities. Here is one photo from the sale - almost easy to miss even with a keen eye.

It is hard to tell whether these were once blued or plated, but there is some pitting with no visible rust, so they have been cleaned. 

The dust has settled and after 29 bids, the hammer price was $5100! Much higher than my expectations. Congrats to the seller and to the new owner of this set of mitts!

I’m mildly surprised that they commanded that much as I thought they would top out at about $3500.

I know someone was recently trying to catalog all of them. This pair seems to be a previously unknown pair ?
