General information needed

Hey y'all, and thanks for having patience with me. I recently purchased one pair of vintage handcuffs for my son for Christmas, and he doesn't know it yet, because I have now started a collection for him. So I am trying to figure out what creates an interest in handcuffs, I am so clueless that the ones that made me interested were the cheap imitations that said " property of Alcatraz" on eBay, until I noticed they were new from India. Seems like it would be terrible to send a Leo fakes. And where do you find them? All of mine are just unique looking ones that I've found there. The actual value isn't as much interest to me as just being authentic, when I have gone to auction sites, they're mostly past sales. eBay probably isn't the best place to buy from, but I don't think I have been ripped off yet. So far, I have a Hiatt, Tower, Lips inc, Heid and Roth come along, and an Argus claw. And I am positively done for the moment, all tapped out from unexpected purchases!

There are several excellent restraint collections in the web, that provide very good information, however, be aware that these pages also could create & increase desire to build up & enlarge your own collection...

Hm, I'm not sure starting a collection for someone else is really a good idea, unless that person has really shown interest. Don't get me wrong, but I would be less than enthusiastic if someone started a waffle-iron or WW2-aircraft tire collection on my behalf. Watches might be a better way to go, but fewer and fewer people wear 'em these days; can't say the same for handcuffs. 
Most people here of course will be more enthusiastic about the latter.

Yeah, that did worry me a bit, but I guess I can always have a cool handcuff collection if he doesn't like them. But I think he should have a passing interest at least, (being male-cowboys and indians, former military and current cop) Guess I will find out in a few weeks!
