Hiatt Solid State?

I have a recollection from 80's of a cuff called the Solid State or Solid 8. Effectively a pair of Darbies welded at the chain connection point. We're these a real thing or have I abused my brain too much? Or were they just a short lived fantasy cuff?

The Hiatt solid state in your photo is the modern reproduction of the early 20th design. When Hiatt remade the solid state, the cuffs were both welded together or riveted thru the clevis hole.  They also come with the lock tubes both facing the same direction or opposed.
