If a cuff is stamped with an officer's name, initials, or badge number or engraved with a police or sheriffs' organization initials, does that matter to you, or not?

Would you pay less or flat out refuse to buy a pair that has aftermarket ownership engravings?

If said engravings or stampings are really neatly done, does that change anything?

It depends. I have a very old Darby cuff that I've posted here before in size 0. It's marked Liverpool Borough Gaol. I'd purchase one marked like this any time.
But marked by an officer to show that he owned them, probably not.

I bought these twice. The first time they were stolen through the global shipping program. The second time, they cost more, but I got ebay to refund the difference.

It is my favorite darby cuff. The earliest and nicest in my collection.

When it got snatched by global shipping, I was heartbroken. They are nothing but a pack of thieves. I was happy to see it relisted again, but of course, it was for more money the second time. I won it back and got the new seller to use a different shipping method. Then I called eBay and raised hell until they credited me the difference. They wouldn't refund cash, but I got the value back at least.

I have a Bean patrolman engraved “Lancaster County Sheriff,” I didn’t even realize it until I got out in the car from the auction,and it just made everything better! If the cuff has engravings that are consistent with the time period of manufacture, then I am willing to pay a little extra

While there are several Lancaster Counties scattered across the US, I would figure the cuff you won is most likely from the one in Pennsylvania as a quick online search shows during the time period that your cuff would have been used the Lancaster, PA population would have been greater than ALL of the other Lancaster Counties combined, and by a wide margin!

I forgot to mention that I bought it in Lancaster Pennsylvania, where I live. The police museum in Lancaster was interested in displaying them, but I don’t think they’ve decided on a location.

Thanks to observant members here, I was alerted to the fact that poor pathetic Ian McColl copied my profile and is now posting his negative garbage while trying to trick us into thinking that I am posting his hate.
I guess that this goes to shows us that he is somehow jealous of me and wants to be just like me.
"Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery," as they say!

To tell the difference between me and the fake MAGA McColl emulation, my profile includes the word "Cuffs" at the end of the signature line (Mark Lyons O--O Cuffs) and MAGA McColl uses just the shorter version (Mark Lyons O--O) My profile also has many "likes" and a good number of posts. His fake post currently shows only a single digit post count.
As we know, his reason for living is his dedication to creating imitation trashy handcuffs and now he wishes to imitate me.

The real shame is that this site is the most concise repository on the subject of cuff collecting and MAGA McColl singlehandedly is now dedicated to destroying all of this.
Most of us know that he is mentally challenged and can't get along with anyone here and in his private life. I feel bad for his wife as she must be miserable living with someone who takes pride in behaving like he does.

For those who enters into any business transactions with him, be aware that he is not honorable and will try to keep any money that is sent his way and may not deliver the product you desire.
In my case, I bought $511 worth of supplies and after several months of no response, I finally got my money back from PayPal.
Fortunately for me, I paid the extra insurance and my refund came within a few minutes when they determined that he was ripping me off.
He will undoubtedly comeback and lie about the facts of the order, but it is a fact that I ordered and paid for items that were NEVER shipped, and he refused to provide a single item nor return any money on his own accord.
IF you are foolish enough to deal with someone who resorts to using a fake identity, please do yourself a favor and do NOT use the "friends or family" avenue....PURCHASE the insurance!!!

I have been an active user of this once great forum for around 25 years but stopped actively contributing around the time of the change from Network 54 to Tapatalk. Those who've been around a while will know what I mean.
I decided to stop contributing to this site in part due to the actions, behaviour and general attitude displayed by one single member of this site and it certainly wasn't Ian McColl at fault.
Having read many of the recent posts which are killing this site the single biggest instigator which no one seems to be prepared to actually name is Mark Lyons.
Those who've been around long enough will still remember the bleating he did around his divorce and his ex wife's attempts to get her share of the estate. No one wanted to have to listen to you washing your dirty underwear in public however that didn't stop you.
Pawn Stars was another issue he subjected the users of this site to. He simply couldn't cope with being passed over for another "expert" and boy did he make users suffer for that one. Perhaps Chumley the resident Jackass felt threated or perhaps it's having a face better suited for radio than TV that was the problem.
Mark if you really wanted to single handedly save Joe's forum you'd simply log out and in time you'd just become a faint memory. You are the irritating fly that is buzzing around the Kangaroo's ass hole. No wonder Ian just can't stop trying to swat it. {No offence Ian you've been a great help to me on several occasions}
Save your bluster, indignation and sycophantic whining Mark and log off and let others enjoy Joe's efforts. You shit stirring fools nobody.

Mark may have had some issues with the forum in the past, that upset other users. He was in the wrong for that. This time around, he isnt the one starting comment threads on religion and American politics. If the threads were never started, Mark would have nothing to attack. These current threads are being started by your boy, Ian McColl. Take a look down the current thread titles. How many have to do with handcuffs? Who started them? Case closed.

Hi author, I do hope you check one more time to at least see my reply to you. Thanks for you comment. As you have seen, Mark didn;t like a humorous polictical psot and could see the irony , nor could he scoll by . He had to make a mountain from a mole hill and then a attacked, attacked, abused and went postal.
